I heard Poccorellos on Coursey closed down. Does anybody know if this is true? They had the best meatball and eggplant poboys.

They have grown old and are in bad health. Not sure if there’s any plans to sell the business or not.

Never seen anyone despise thier customers as much as Pocorello's. Not going to miss them or Fleur de Lis either.

How long have they been closed? I know there was a group of homeless people camping out behind the building, and was surprised Poccorello didn’t do anything about it

Didn't the owner have a reputation of being a huge a-hole?

That was part of the fun/charm of going in there.

Yall need some thicker skin. I used to go there all the time when I lived off Jones Creek, the guy just seemed like a no bullshite kind of guy. Great meatball sub, amongst other sandwiches, just no bull shite.

Except by him when he overcharges you

He and she could be rude as hell to certain customers. It has nothing to do with tough skin. It is what it is.

he made my little sicilian mother mad and she quit buying olives there

Nextdoor commenters were saying they are both in poor health. The equipment was being removed the other day
never understood why they had to be so rude all the time. why go into that type of business if you hate people so much

Pokie had that gruff thing going, in reality the man would give you the shirt off his back. Vita is as mean as a snake.

The sons had no interest in carrying on the business
One son worked it for awhile to help out but didn't want to stay on
They had cut back hours big time anyway and also taken planned vacations
Pokie had health issues - kidney and the wife now has cancer is what I was told

Yes they are closed now for good.
Age and health are the reasons for the closure.
It was a good run.
He opened it in February 1985.
He was the unofficial "mayor of Coursey Blvd."
