The Webb Search for Extraterrestrial Life Has Begun

JWST's First Image Of TRAPPIST-1 – One Of Our Best Candidates For Finding Life
Webb took a 5-hour look at the Trappist system. The data is open to anyone who wants to analyze it. NASA scientists will look for biomarkers and, perhaps, industrial pollutants in the atmospheres.
We may know very soon, if not from Trappist then some other system, whether we’ve got close neighbors in the galaxy.
How will a confirmation of ET life elsewhere affect you?

“Our goal,” principal investigator of a JWST program surveying four of the seven TRAPPIST-1 planets, Olivia Lim, told The Planetary Society, "is to tell whether the planets TRAPPIST-1b, c, g, and h have an atmosphere or not, and to do that, we will try to detect features of molecules such as carbon dioxide, water, and ozone in the transit spectra of those planets.”

Why not D E And F? Those are the ones in the habitable zone

Another distraction for the mouth breathers to eat up

Lmfao why do they even release these? Just say your team is analyzing the data

Assuming they find something or someone out there, WTF are they gonna do about it then?

Holy pixelated mess

It's amazing how much "g" resembles earth. What a telescope!

Ignoring that, life elsewhere wouldn’t affect me at all.

Good catch. No idea. Maybe the sizes and compositions of the planets are different? G is at the edge of the habitable zone but b and c would seem to be too hot.

Looking at the diagram, the whole solar system fits inside the orbit of Mercury here. Good luck finding life that’s not burning to death.
7 planets closer to their star than Mercury is to the Sun.

AND and evidence of life will be immediately silenced.

The Trappist 1 star is only 9% the mass of our Sun, and its temperature is much cooler. But because its planets orbit so closely to the star, they receive comparable levels of light and heat to Earth and its neighboring planets.

I think I read somewhere God has multiple sizes and wattages of light bulbs.

That’s not possible with our system. All of the data has been released and is available to everyone on earth to analyze.

From the diagram it looks like the sun is much smaller than ours
