Price per sq ft for home addition?

What’s the going rate for price per sq ft for home additions in the BR area? We’re out growing our home and I’m thinking it may be cheaper to add on than it is to find a new home that fits our needs.

There are way too many unknown variables for anyone to answer this question in a remotely accurate manner.

agreed. I would reach out to a couple draftsman/architects as a starting point to see what is possible. Most have a backlog of projects to produce right now. To get the most out of the addition, I would suggest possibly adding some outdoor flex space. (Most bang for the buck)

Lots of variable but don’t be surprised at $150+

Does anyone have a recommended draftsman for a reno project? I've had 3 quotes from architects and the quote were $10-18k

18k is tough to swallow. I'd go with the $10 option.

Sounds like its not a small addition for that much.

It's really not bad. I have a patio that already has a roof connected to the house, and want to close that in and add another 200 sq ft. So 600 sq ft total. Had 2 architects tell me their price is based off a commission of the reno project, and the other was based off the price per sq ft of the total home once completed.

Yea you need to find you a draftsman and have them draw what you want. It doesn’t sound very complicated but you never know it may be a lot harder than I’m thinking depending on existing building and access to the area to get concrete etc. also depends on if you hire a contractor or sub it out yourself.
