I watched “man in the arena” recently, the 10 part doc in tom Brady and it was awesome. Not a baseball guy but will probably watch this once all the episodes are out

I'm looking for a thread where a bunch of hick Astros and Braves fans are bitching and moaning about the Yankees like some middle-aged spinsters. What's going on in here?

I guess since I was only 10 when Jeter was first coming out so my douche radar wasn’t developed yet, but man he was a huge douche when he was young. The way he talked good lord Young Arod was far more likeable

See this is funny. Now, maybe it's because I'm a Yankees fan, and maybe it's also because Jeter was coming up when I first moved to NYC, so I got to watch his career firsthand, but it always seemed the exact opposite to me. Jeter always seemed like the consummate team player, while Arod seemed like a douche who was just in it for himself.

they did it with Jordan and the last dance so why not with Jeter
jordan and Brady get docs because they are GOATS. Jeter was the third best ss of his era and one of the others played on the same team as him

Most people are just pissy because he got more attention and praise because he was the captain of the Yankees for 12 seasons. Thinking he sounded douchey sometimes is not a reason to hate the guy. Plenty of lesser players in baseball are douchey and still get love because they play for a team you like. News flash, sometimes athletes sound douchey.

If the Yankees retire your number, you probably did something right. He's worth making a documentary about and if you think otherwise, you're clueless. There are obviously plenty of baseball players throughout history who had better careers statistically, but your legacy isn't built on regular season stats. Jeter has one of the best post season records in history, obviously he was there a lot so he had plenty of chances, but he was clutch when it mattered. Again, most people who hate him, it's because he gets more attention and praise than they think his raw stats deserve, which is true of A LOT of other athletes in history. It's just a really dumb reason to hate a player. It's also worth mentioning he played the game the right way during the steroid era and was better than most dudes who were roided up at the time.

I don’t hate the Yanks. Don’t like them either and I’ve always had the same kind of mindset towards Jeter. Just indifference. Not hating him. Not a fan, either.

Having said that, he kind of comes across as a huge douche and not in the likeable way that Jordan’s douchebag tendencies come across. Jordan’s came across a lot better mostly because we KNOW and he KNOWS, he’s the best of all time and it’s almost like he can’t help it. It’s just a part of who he is. Jeter is doing it maybe because the producers of the doc are trying to portray him as an MJ type when he might not even a top 5 SS of all time, let alone amongst one of the greatest to every play.

Perfect example was when Jeter was talking about ARod and brought up winning more championships despite ARod clearly being a better player and waxing his arse in nearly every statistical category in baseball

In 1942, Ted Williams hit .356 with 36 home runs and 137 RBI to capture his first Triple Crown.

He also led the league with 141 runs scored, 145 walks, a .499 OBP, .648 SLG, 1.147 OPS and 338 total bases.

He was easily picked as the league MVP, right? Nope, the writers, especially in NY, disliked Boston Red Sox’ Williams and instead gave it to Joe Gordon, who naturally was a Yankee.

Yes, A-Rod is unquestionably the better player over the course of his career and most stats prove it. Defensively and offensively.

In post season play, Jeter has a higher BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS than A-Rod.

Which probably had something to do with the Yankees easily making the playoffs. And the Red Sox finishing 9 games behind.
