Victim never stood a chance. After being killed he was eaten. Biden’s America.
ETA: I was too lazy to make the gif last night but I also have footage if it making room for the victim.
ETA2: One more for the bird nerds. The hawk surveying my shitty deck:

No HOA in the trailer park based on that deck, I see.

Appears he forgot to make a roux.

Is that Cooper’s Hawk?
I saw one murder a Common Grackle in an Ornithology class in grad school. The class took to calling them “murder birds.”

If a Cooper’s hawk is a red tail then yes.

To-may-toe, to-mah-toe. They’re both Accipiters.
In any cases if Red-Tail behavior is anything like Cooper’s, it’s like watching a serial killer go to work. The prey whimpers and pleads for its life, but the hawk just rips it apart piece by piece.

The squirrel got what it deserved. Since I’ve lived here I’ve had two fall down my chimney that I’ve had to get out of my house.
I might try to build a nest for this majestic beast to keep my yard free of these tree rats.

I was outside smoking about on my back porch and saw a confrontation between a horned owl and a red tailed hawk
The owl owned it
The owl owned it

I've had a Cooper's hunting my property for a couple years now. They spooked one of my Purple Martin colonies to the point that they were late to show up this year, and didn't fill that gourd setup as much as they usually do.
I didn't see it take a Martin this year, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. It tried a few times that I saw, and it hit my decoys a couple times at least. The Martins are always on alert and I have a huge bird population in my area that all keep an eye out. When that hawk first shows up it is usually the crows across the road that spot it first. Then, all hell breaks loose. The Martins have a big advantage if they get off their perches before the hawk makes its dive. In the air, the hawk is no match. Ten or twelve Martins will get above it and just repeatedly dive bomb it until it is well out of sight.
I did see a Bluebird taken in my backyard this year, and saw feathers of a Dove and what was probably a Grey Catbird. The Hawks eat, and that's fine. I just want to give my Martins and Bluebirds the best shot I can.
Nice pic, btw.

There are plenty of squirrels around my joint, too many really, but I have never seen a hawk take a squirrel here. Ever.
I wish they would acquire a taste for them.

The night hunters interacting with the day hunters at the rt time is a site to see. I saw two owls attack a hawk. They were talking to each other one to distract the other to attack. This happened as the sun was going down and the hawk was in their territory now.

Someone from my hometown posted a video last month of a cat squirrel trying to cross the road only to get swooped up by a mature bald eagle. That was a sight to behold.

I was driving across the bridge over Peavine Creek on N Decatur by Druid Hills golf course and a hawk shot across the road from the creek inches from my windshield with a huge rabbit. Hawk almost bit off more than it could chew so to speak.

The HOA really needs to do something about those violent raptors freely coming into neighborhoods
Posted on 7/20/22 at 7:08 am to BPTiger
Modern velociraptors are scary.

We were tailgating on campus under one of those huge oaks. A hawk came down and snatched a squirrel. The squirrel started screaming and so did the kids and women. A circle of life teaching moment.

For all of the shite about Atlanta that makes me hate it, I will say that there is a good amount of cool wildlife in and around the city.
I was there for work last week and went on a short hike at Cochran Shoals trail along the Chattahoochee, right on the perimeter, and saw three kinds of snakes.

Birds are fricking awesome. I talk to the doves and owls every night. There are a pair of bald eagles I wave at by my favorite fishing hole. Those goof balls don't even try that hard catching fish. It's like whoops I dropped a fish. ONOZ... I'm gonna have to swoop around again in this hot and and splash into some water.

I saw this young red-shouldered on a squirrel in my neighborhood(Irondale AL) the other day. Lots of red-shouldered hawks around here.

the wife(no pics,) loves to feed the birds/squirrels in the back yard and has several feeders back there, so what does that attract? rats, there are several big oaks in the backyard and the rats attracted a big hawk, dude just sits up there until it's time, pretty impressive to see him swoop down and pick those rodents off
