Anyone have elk outfitters that they would recommend? Thanks in advance

Strawberry Creek outside of Meeker, Colorado. High success rates, but not giant bulls. I have gone once, and had family go several times over the past few years. Everyone had shot opportunities.

Looks like they sold it and it is just for weddings and events now.

That's a pretty broad ask. You got a state in mind? Budget? Rifle/bow? Trophy/cow/whatever?

It’s been a few years, but these are the finest folks you’d ever want to hunt with. Buddy and I both killed bulls in the 360s” on that trip.

I think it was in 2006 and around $5,000. I’m sure they’ve gone up, but it was a bargain at the time for the quality of elk they had.

Well, I really don’t have a state in mind. Just would like a shot at a good bull. First time for me.

Consider building points in the states you’d like to hunt.

Real complicated question. Budget for elk hunts run 2k to over 20k. If you want to hunt in 2023 you will be limited to Colorado over the counter units or landowner permits in some states. There are scattered places where you could draw a tag year one as well.

As far as an Outfitter, Rough Country Outfitters in Wyoming is a hard working No non-sense outfit. Good hunters. Really know bow hunting if that’s your thing. Jim and Dusty are great.

I requested info on a rifle hunt with grizzly outfitters. He called me back and said they were 9 years out on rifle bull elk hunts. That’s crazy

Demand has gone sky high for elk hunts.

It’s hard to get tags now for out of staters except in trash units.

Look at far west texas. Free range. Otc tags. Private land. Rifle during the rut. Prolly run you at least 8k though.

It’s hard

In many cases its impossible. Point creep has eaten up a lot of opportunities. If you aren't in the game already, you aren't getting in

I think Arizona is still a wide open lottery. Or true lottery.

Indian reservations are good options too but they aren’t cheap at all.

A true recession will create a correction. It is hard to believe demand has jumped this much in the past ten years.
