Where are all the cool kids vacationing now? Looking to take the family somewhere before summer ends.

if you don't want to deal with a larger crowd the Island is right up your alley but there aren't as many places to go out to eat at obviously.
they just had the Deep Sea fishing rodeo there last weekend. That is as crowded it will get all summer.

Dauphin Island and Destin are completely different, really not comparable at all. What are you looking for in a beach trip? Destin will be way more crowded but also have way more restaurant choices and better beaches. If you just want to go sit on the beach and maybe do some fishing and avoid the crowds, Dauphin Island is probably a better bet. They also have an old civil war fort and the sea lab if you’re into those kinds of things.

Dauphin Island would be my choice without a doubt, but it is way more suited for the things I enjoy.

I don’t think Dauphin Island has ever been a top 5 most popular gulf coast beach at any given time 
That’s what makes it a perfect trip for a lot of people though.

Back in the day when I attended Spring Hill College, Dauphin Island was really cool to go to, and pretty convenient. I doubt it has changed much in 35yrs…

Dauphin Island if you want peace and quiet. Just take the ferry over to Ft. Morgan and eat in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach.
