What if he does. I'm not voting for someone because of an endorsement from someone I'd tolerate.

You will, of course, continue to receive an avalanche of opprobrium for posting this, but the fact remains that no potential GOP candidate has as hard a ceiling as former President Trump. At best he can pull another inside straight and win the presidency by stitching together narrow wins in key states while losing the popular vote. It would seem so sensible to shop for a candidate with similar positions on key policies--much of what the Trump administration accomplished was based on the application of straightforward GOP positions--but, alas, so many on this board and within in GOP coalition seem to be motivated more by a deep personal devotion to Trump.

Literally, no one is going to say that. You can keep on wishful thinking if you want. Trump wins in another landslide if he runs. And, he intends to run.

TRUMP 2024!

Isn’t the ultimate support for Trump still equal to 81% when adding Trump (49), Desantis (25) and Cruz (7)?

Your type of Republican that supports Pence, Haley, Rubio, Romney et al would vote for the Democrat nominee. So, there would be 12-19% of the polled population for which support is not attainable for Trump.

In all fairness, they've been making these promises since 1988. It took Trump to actually follow through and piss them all off.

People like HHTM are so fricking gullible it's hard for me to process that level of ignorance. The MSM starts pumping a DeSantis/Trump feud that materially doesnt exist. Now, a week or so later, they are feeding you polls telling you that the people "dont want Trump" anymore. After all of the fake news... After cycle after cycle of the MSM trying to pick the R candidate... people like HHTM still take the bait.

but you can't ignore that Trump was a response to a very real problem with the GOP.

100%

And Trump, ultimately, spun his wheels and stalled out on a lot of his efforts. A lot of them came to nothing, some from external forces he can't control, some because he hired idiots and didn't have an endgame for a lot of his ideas. But, in so doing, he challenged the very established norms and opened a lot of eyes.

Establishment - "you just can't do it like that!"

Trump - "Why? I can, I will."

*nothing terrible happens*

Trump - "see"

And in the end a lot of those efforts didn't go anywhere, were messy, incomplete, whatever. But there was no lasting damage and the value of showing we're not as boxed in as a country as our expert/establishment class claims is pretty invaluable. I'd like to see Trump or someone else take that concept and go at it more purposefully starting in 2022.

I can't imagine being stupid enough to think Trump and Biden are the only options. But, I suppose that's how we ended up with Trump, then Biden.

If DeSantis doesnt run, it'll be Trump versus Biden. I cant imagine anyone being stupid enough to think otherwise. But keep the dream alive friend. You might get that second chance at Hillary you've been dreaming of.

None of that requires a vote for either, no matter what the two parties tell the brain dead masses.
