Car prices aren’t high everywhere, just Louisiana. Screw these dealerships

I’ve been shopping for a nice used car for my daughter turning 16 this week. The fricking dealerships around here think their shite is made of gold. I’ve made some nice offers on a few cars (above KBB value), and none would budge.
I found a great car in Birmingham for $3000 less than the exact same car here. Plus, I found some with great prices in Houston.
I’m driving to Bham tomorrow

They're higher everywhere, but if you find a high volume dealer you can still get a decent deal. There aren't a ton in Louisiana.

All used cars are not equal. Condition is everything.

Mind if I ask where? I'm in the market.

Market in midsized cities sucks. You gotta drive to a Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta.

They’re high here in FL I assure you.

A lot of times they'll deliver for free.
Even used.
They brought me my wife's van and my truck when I shipped in Texas.
Signed papers at my kitchen table.

Say Uncle ‘tique, found a bunch of stuff in the attic of my home I’m renovating. Think I can get a whole $3.50?

Bought my wife a Santa Fe 3 weeks ago from Greg Leblanc in Houma. They took 2000 off MSRP. I checked with several dealers in Houston and they were only taking $1-1500 off, stayed in Houma.
ETA; wife had to settle for a red or white (she chose the white one) she wanted a muted grey, but none were available in the Limited package for a few months.

The market is going to implode and it’s going to be a lot of fun watching some of these bastards struggle.

Even before all this covid shite, LA has always been inexplicably expensive for vehicles compared to other states.
I always attributed it to lack of financial literacy of the populace and just travelled to Houston.

I was recently in the market for new or gently used Mazda CX-5 for one of my daughters. Would have preferred new for the warranty and b/c used prices are through the roof. Daughter needed it ASAP for travel so I couldn’t wait. No new inventory at any dealership in Louisiana. So I called the biggest dealership in Houston- They told me they are only selling (putting on waiting lists) to people that live in the greater Houston metro area. Would not even put me on a list since we are in Louisiana. Bought an overpriced 2020 in Baton Rouge. Still sick about overpaying for it.
