A lot of smoke coming from both Dallas and New York that Brunson is spurning Luka and the Mavs and forging his own path in NY.

4 years / $100 M+ contract

Seems like a big gamble for both himself and the Knicks. They’ve targeted him this offseason and have cleared cap space to sign him.

He’s not worth $100 million, New York. Why are they reaching so much?

It’s not a gamble for him. It’s $100 million guaranteed

mavs could offer more with an extra year, plus Knicks would still need to cut $7m

And they are a perpetual shitshow

Weird move

Good deal for Dallas. Sometimes it’s the ones you don’t make.

The Mavs can offer just as much. He’s gambling on being the big dog in Madison Square Garden, instead of the 2nd/3rd option behind Luka in Dallas.

Iirc if dallas loses him they don’t have that money to spend on another player. They can resign him and exceed the cap because of bird right.

Gonna suck when they turn on him then give him the Julius Randle treatment.

With the Mavs paying Bertans $16M and Dinwiddie $21M, Brunson is easily worth $25M.

He's got room to improve and there's security having a guard who can play with Luka, be the backup pg and give you a scoring option when Luka's on the bench.

Insane deal and good for Brunson. Don’t blame him at all.

Don’t forget, his dad is also on the knicks’ staff.

Mavs have to walk away.

He's going there because his dad played there and currently coaches there. And they offered him more money to get him there.

Really not that big of a stretch

Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

Who would have ever thought we'd be at a point in the NBA where the NEW YORK KNICKS have to hire someone's dad to get in the door with a top free agent? And will still have to drastically overpay for said free agent

Time for Dinwiddie to step up. Just need another shot creator to come off the bench.

That fanbase will turn on Brunson with the quickness once teams can actually gameplan for him

Might try to work a sign-and-trade. Plus, Wood, Kleber and Powell are off the books after this season, and Dinwiddie and Bullock will be in their final years so they're tradeable

Because this has been their prize off-season addition for the past 5 years, if not longer

Knicks feeling nostalgic about the Isaiah Thomas days of complete Peter Principle failure.

This is a prime example of why the Knicks perpetually suck.
