He won’t acknowledge that. There’s a couple of posters (he’s one of them) who think having 3-4 guys who can hit means you’re loaded
And to be totally fair to Johnson, he brought in Berry so it’s not like he inherited even all that offensive talent.
The roster wasn’t where it needed to be. Period

I’ve said nothing about Jay Johnson only that we underachieved this season and that doesn’t mean he isn’t a good coach, it could mean the team wasn’t set up for what he likes to do. He also alluded to not being happy with how Kelly handled pitching and now Kelly is gone. What I said was we have a group of fans who are unwilling to look at anything objectively, they make these huge proclamations this time of year then deny they did it and make stupid excuses when we don’t achieve their predictions. Like I said before you’re making a straw man and deifying a coach who hasn’t done anything yet. That’s foolish.

The roster was loaded, baseball fans are the only ones who absolve their coach of any responsibility and trash our players. And this isn’t exclusive to JJ, it went on for years with CPM

LSU brought in a starting SS, one of the best bats in the country and two potential weekend starters and all you can talk about is how LSU underachieved this year.

For the sake of not disparaging any of the kids I’ll just say that whoever thought this was a top 8 team wasn’t being objective. We weren’t there.
