Earth
North of equator
South of north pole
Between US mountain time and eastern time
With a less than hairy girl for most of the year
While listening to Def Leppard 2.0

I was at Van Voorhies Elementary School on Ft. Knox Kentucky. It was a good time. We played in the community pool and ran around all night until the mosquito truck came around. Then we had to come inside. But we still got to play Nintendo until it was bed time.

2 years out of college, working in the family business, teaching myself how to write software on these PC's that were gaining a rapid foothold.
It paid off.

Summer of ‘88, the oilfield had busted and I had been recently laid off from my job. Started college in the Summer of ‘88 and never looked back. Turned out to be a turning point in my life.

Do you remember anything in particular about your life that year?

Junior in high school wearing Girbaud jeans that were tight rolled and wearing penny loafers. I was kind of a big deal.

5th grade.
Two private lakes within walking distance with permission to fish. Also a large fishable creek in the backyard. Pretty much all we did was fish and play Davy Crockett and build lean-to's and forts and ride bikes. Backyard football in a neighbor's huge field. Started getting into skateboarding right around that time too. We had a nintendo but we really only used it at night or if the weather was bad. Unlike today's games, the games of the time would get boring after a while, they didn't suck you in like modern games.
Lucky to grow up in a neighborhood with a bunch of other kids my age. We were basically feral children running around outside all day. Miraculously none of us were seriously injured or killed, despite several occassions where that would have been the predictable outcome.

My senior year at LSU. I had a girlfriend who was the horniest chick I’ve ever seen. I didn’t really like her but kept her for the benefits. Dumped her when I graduated.
Those were good times.

Pretty much the year that changed my life - for the good. After 3 semesters at LSU trying to be a professional LSD chemist and hydroponics engineer, I checked myself into treatment on 12/27/87. Way too many days consuming hallucinogens and not giving a shite about life. Moved to Laffy in Jan 1988 and did 6 months in a half-way house learning all about sobriety and being responsible and respectful. Went back to school (USL) and completed my undergrad and got a Master's degree. 34 years later, I've been clean and sober ever since. Sadly, I've been a pall bearer for a half dozen friends that continued to push the limits as their addiction grew worse.
