quote:The city declared racism a public health crisis after a unanimous vote by the city council last week. The resolution declares the city will consider how the city can achieve equity in all aspects of city planning, policy-making, laws, contracting and hiring. The resolution states the city will take several steps, including allocating $350,000 to the Department of Race and Equity to support its effort to advance racial equity. The funding will be spent on a race and equity data analyst and consulting services for "ongoing city-wide data collection necessary to achieve more equitable outcome for Oakland residents."
"It reminds us that centuries of systemic racism have profoundly harmed communities of color and led to disturbing health disparities that are exacerbated by the pandemic. It took time to draft this in a thoughtful way, Seema Rupani, an attorney in the office of Oakland City Attorney

California smh
According to a city report, residents in a historically White neighborhood in the North Oakland hills live, on average, 14 to 15 years longer than residents in historically Black and Hispanic neighborhoods.

And how many blacks were killed by other blacks so far this year in Oakland?

Well when people value life and health, they tend to live longer on average.
I hope the first order of business is to fly Teedy out to oversee the planning and installation of an afropick statue.

I would say shootings are a bigger public health crisis.

we called an emergency for a made up thing. so that we can siphon money for no specific thing. which will accomplish, nothing.

As long as it starts a conversation, I'm good with it.

There are so many real issues they should address. Its this kind of thinking by your elected officials why your community will always be in bad shape.

Racism is the biggest boogie man in American. I’ve heard a few racial slurs towards me in my lifetime. Here’s the cold hard truth: it’s not that bad.

Oakland has been violent since the days of Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. All of a sudden?
Do we need Canseco and Mark to come back and lead the city or is that racist, too?

Are there any white people in Oakland?

exacerbated by the pandemic.
The pandemic wasn’t racist, but the lingering effects of government’s reaction to it will be felt by an entire generation of minorities.
We flooded minority communities with cash to keep them happy and buy their silence. The true cost were the vast numbers of minority children that received no education for two years, the destroyed economy, and the significant numbers of professionals fleeing urban areas because of remote work and lockdown restrictions.
