Coast to Coast AM was good back in the day, but….

it stinks now. Not only are the hosts, a big drop off from Art Bell, ( especially Connie Willis) but the show topics are also horrible.
This morning, they had the third rate 60’s band the Cowsills on. Who wants to listen to some 60’s never been band talking about singing with Dean Martin?

The Cowsills were basically the real life version of The Partridge Family.
Not every show can be about ET and The Squatch.

Coast to Coast AM wasn’t created to have shows about the Partridge Family. There are thousands of podcast to accommodate a show on the Cowsills.

If you're east of the Rockies you may laugh now.

Cowsills did the dream sequence song in Dumb and Dumber.

Susan Cowsill is on the Northshore, I think I recall…

I agree. Art Bell was the best and I haven't had any interest in the show since he retired. Then you go and mention a show that actually sounds interesting. The Cowsills documentary on Showtime was worth checking out.

C2C, Art Bell and the 90's were like catching lightning in a bottle.
Everything after it was just aa cheap knockoff. Norry did a good job of filling on and guest hosting for Bell in the 90's but when they gave him the full reigns IDK, it was either him, the producers or something because they wheels quickly came off the bus.
Good times though, I still stream old C2C at night some times from various platforms. Even though I've heard most every episode I still find myself captivated by the callers and stories.

What fascinates me is that a caller can say the most outlandish story and the host will never insinuate he’s a nut, but instead, just play right along.
Caller: I fell out of bed, rolled under it, then found myself in another dimension.
Host: what was the temperature there?!

You need some 10 star general in your life to get you straight.

George Noory destroyed coast to coast. George and Art Bell were good friends but George's desire to be a face on TV and the face of coast to coast ruined the show. Art was about the show. George is about George.

Agree about George
I could tell George that aliens have landed on my yard and here is the video, George would then ask if I liked baseball.

This. Art was a master interviewer and was one of the best at making even a mediocre topic feel exciting.
George Noory is a fricking douchebag. His stupid face and smarmy-but-functionally-retarded personality make me angry.

I stream old art bell Episodes from C2c and midnight in the desert every night on headphones. Most nights I can't separate the show from reality.

That what made Art the master C2C host. He had a way of making these people feel comfortable enough to open up, like a good therapist. Never hinting that these people may be off their rockers but at least acting like he totally believed and understood them. It was never about anything other than the caller or guest. Never seemed to be going for ratings or anything, just let the story happen.
It's exactly why I think Joe Rogan gained so much popularity, his style is very similar though Joe is operating in a totally different time and environment.
90's hosts like Morten Downey Jr and even Howard Stern(Late night TV days) started the same way but in both their cases they quickly started honing in on ratings and "trying" to be as outlandish as possible.

There was a poster here who had a nightly thread where we talked about the on air episode. He was an Arky fan and I can't remember his name
He was very active but I have not seen him in a while.
