I currently have Suddenlink cable and they have pissed me off. I can also just get much faster internet for cheaper with AT&T.

I know AT&T has customer service issues, but so does Suddenlink so that's a wash.

The AT&T box is located in a utility closet on my building's floor. Will they run cable so that my gateway is in my office? Can I connect my own router to their gateway?

I have zero complaints about ATT Fiber, but short of some frickery, you can’t use your own router/gateway.

The show-stopper for me is that would mean having to give money to AT&T.

AT&T

They are a cock sucker of a company. They royally suck. Since you are having issues with Suddenlink's customer service, at this point, might as well go with the faster service and also weigh price points into your decision.

I have had nothing but upsides. Cheaper, faster, and more reliable than Comcast ever was for me. Plus I get HBOMax included. 1 gig up/down for $80/mo.

My AT&T Fiber has been rock solid. When the people building houses around me cut my fiber, AT&T was out in 24 hrs to rerun it and charged me nothing.

I have ATT fiber and haven't had to deal with customer service because it just works all the time. I lost service for about 6 hours with Hurricane Ida, that's it.

The only downside is you need to use their modem

You won’t need to go through AT&T customer service because their Fiber unit is flawless

They just laid fiber lines in my neighborhood. I’m switching from Suddenlink solely because of how piss poor Suddenlink’s Laura response was. I was out of internet for 3 months after the storm. I know they’re all evil, but at least the AT&T folks got internet in a reasonable amount of time after the storms.
