Going on a horseback riding trip later this year at a ranch in Arizona. I have zero riding experience, but I am starting lessons soon.

Any recommendations on boots that work and won't make me look like a complete idiot?

Nah, just an idiot. I figured cowboy boots but I just wanted a brand that won't fall apart if you actually ride in them.

Tractor supply may have them. Not really sure. Just look for a leather boot with heel and smooth bottom. No grippy stuff on bottom.

I am sure you are right. Most dude ranches are like that.

Going out there with the fiancé(no pics) and she grew up riding. This ranch supposedly has options for more difficult trails and I wanted surprise her with being able to go on some. Cue lessons cause I don’t know shite. I grew up on dirtbikes.

We both want land and she wants horses in the future so I gotta learn this one way or another.

Justin Ropers or Ariat Ropers. Wear something comfortable. Buy something plain and understated. You don’t want to look like a pimp or a Mexican with pointed toes, exotic skins, or fancy stitching.

Sit up strait, deep in the saddle and keep your heels down. You want your feet and hips in a strait
Line. Keep your hands down as well. The trail horse will likely neck rein so elevating your hands won’t do anything but make you look foolish. Remember, the horse has been on the trail many times and knows it better than you. He’ll sense your fear or apprehension so relax. Arizona has some beautiful country. You should have a blast. Trust your horse, trust your guide, and enjoy your trip. If you’re new to riding and you’re on a trail ride that lasts more that two hours you’ll be sore. Bring some aspirin.

It gets hot in Az. These will let your feet breathe. All you need now, is the spurs.

These would pair nicely.

Is this like a 3 hour tour ride?

Just wear normal shoes, no need for boots, you likely wont do anything anyway the horse knows.
