Someone posted on my FB the top nfl stadium rankings based on yelp reviews. Superdome was #7. Not bad for a trashy stadium.
Thought this was funny and true.
“It’s not pretty in its old age, but this thing has more character than almost any building in football.”
Mean Yelp review: “The seats were the smallest I have ever encountered in a stadium… Legs turned numb because you cannot move an inch. The stairs to the upper levels are dangerously steep, but the seats were totally ridiculous. I am not a big or tall person and my knees hit the seat in front of me and I got a Backache from compressing myself as much as I could- terrible experience- did I say how crappy the seats are, oh yeah… I did. And by the way, far too many sloppy drunks.”
This dude definitely sat in the terrace lol. Shoulda sprung for better seats.

It’s much better now but I remember going to MBS in Atlanta for the SECCG and Peach Bowl then going to the dome for the CFPNCG and just being completely completely underwhelmed.

That might ruin the experience for out of town tourists though.
Yeah just maybe

Not a chance. That stadium in Santa Clara is a disaster.

Arizona is better 2007
Having been, it’s close, but I agree. With that said, the Superdome’s location is WAAAAAAAAY better.

Better than: Kansascity Chicago Green bay
I actually like KC, and Green Bay is the best outdoor stadium in the NFL.

On Par With:
New york Seattle Denver Houston
Disagree that New York and denver are on par. Superdome is way better than Metlife. Houston is right on par, though.
So, yeah, I’d rank the dome around the 10th or 12th best venue.

I think you are trying to compare it to Atlanta, Las Vegas, and LA.. All of those stadiums are brand new. Super Dome has history for one. I personally think they have done a great job at keeping it up over the years

People will glamorize because of recent upgrades but it is still a bottom tier stadium in a great location

Go to a game at metlife or better yet fricking fedex field and you’ll realize how nice the superdome situation really is.
There's nothing quite like hopping on the metro and getting off about a mile away, walking uphill past woods, some apartments, and a sprawling parking lot, and then entering FedEx Field, where the seats are more compact than Neiland, the concessions suck, and there are blocked views all over the place.
Or if you drive, then the traffic in and out makes Saturday nights after an LSU football game seem smooth.
frick FedEx Field!
The overall experience in terms of getting into and out of the dome, along with the restaurants, bars and hotels all within close proximity make the superdome one of the best stadiums in the NFL

and in a field somewhere in St. Tammany parish
That's an awesome idea. It's not like the allure of big games in the Dome is the walking distance to the Quarter and Warehouse District. Man, imagine all of the people clamoring to be stuck in traffic for hours on 190, while being unable to walk anywhere fun. Amazing!

At least it is a dome, you think Buffalo is fun in the winter? Midwest/NE people constantly bring up how hard it is to throw in the snow, and they don't build a fricking dome.

I do remember that one rendering years ago showed some sort of windows created in the corners to let light in, but that obviously that didn’t happen.
Actually, it did happen, but only in the Loge Club section:
Look at the corners of the lower, more "square" section below the round part to see where they are:

I'm telling you now and you can write this down... The Dome is what will eventually put the Saints in another city. Go ahead. Quote me. I'll stand by it.

The main issue is it lies in the perfect spot, so rebuilding a stadium would take many years. Assuming the money can be found, we're probably looking at the very least 10 years out from a teardown. New Orleans as a whole might not be worth it then.
ETA: at least the gold color on the outside shows now. It used to look so dull and boring. Did they repaint?

Not painted, it's metal. They replaced the exterior metal panels in one of the renovations a few years back. Matches the gold of the Saints' helmets now.??
