I lost my SAW in the hurricane last year

SAW is really mobile, but shoots 5.56

M-60 takes Rambo to handle it on the run, but shoots 7.62

I think SAW is like 200 rounds per minute faster as well.

If I am in a static position give me an m60. If I have to carry it all day give me a SAW.
Had to carry the m60 infrequently but most of the time it was mounted on a M1025 Humvee.

Are you wanting to compare the SAW to the PIG or the current version M240B.

It doesn’t matter because they have different uses. That’s why a IN SQD has both at their disposal. The SAW is used more in an offensive posture ie the assault team. M240B would be set in the support by fire. I have never seen anyone IMT across an objective with a 240b or an M60 except in the movie’s. And yes SOF and airborne units have a smaller version they still don’t assault with them.

That being said you want the 7.62 over the 5.56.

M249 if I am in close quarters or humping it all day though I never carried either. M60 if I don't have to hump it and my AO is more open.

That being said I bet my choice would be the new squad automatic weapon the XM250 that shoots 6.8mm. It along with the new XM5 (that replaces the M4) are both being made by Sig and look to be great weapons.
