A motion to support Option 2 for the definition of Non-Select/Select schools has been approved by a 16-5 vote from the Executive Committee. Rule will go into effect July 1 w/ public schools having option to change open enrollment policy by then.

so does this mean that parishes that only have one public school have to go select?

Will be approximately 180 select schools - about 45% of total membership

the below tweet is someone I know as a WBB referee

I may be wrong, but my interpretation of this is that every school in Rapides Parish is now classified as a "select" school -- which is absolutely wrong, ludicrous and infuriating.

No, but all of Rapides, Lafayette, and Caddo are now select.

A lot of BR schools will be select as well

Ok I see how it works now.

Just was wondering how they would deal with Chalmette given it's the only high school in St. Bernard Parish

They would get destroyed in Catholic School select league

That would just prove that Tucker will never be Nuss no matter how many wins he gets…

But yeah the districts would probably stay the same. The difference would be in the playoff brackets

I remember around 1972 or 73 one of my dad's college room mates was an Asst at CHS and they thought due to integration they were on the verge of becoming a power house. but... they damned sure held their own.. but you and I both know the parish is very different than in 1978

Well we’re growing again, there’s flight from NOLA, and now we get the kids from Violet too

I’m good with this.

I want the whole clusterfrick to go away and making it worse is the only way to get schools on board with it.

I apologize, I completely missed the previous thread that was already discussing this topic long before today's vote.

If you so deem it, please delete this thread.

Apologies again

This will likely change due to open enrollment parishes having the option to change their policy by the July 1st date.

Am I missing Avoyelles Charter? Never mind....they don't play football. Is this JUST for football or all sports?

D1 is by far the best division now. Not even close. Public school “champs” will be complete paper tigers

I wonder is Zachary will join D1. They hate the split. I’m guessing WM and Destrehan will stay, they are terrified of competition

posted earlier

quote:

Many can potentially pull athletes from Converse, Ebarb, Negreet, Florien, Pleasant Hill, or Zwolle since none of those schools play football. They only have to take in the athletes who want to play football (and they often end up playing several sports), so they are able to keep their population low. According to the most recent enrollment numbers, Pleasant Hill has 92, Ebarb has 103, Zwolle has 231, Converse has 182, Negreet has 165, Florien has 157, and Many has 372 (only 30 short of playing 3A as it is). So they can basically potentially pull from population of over 1000 kids and are playing 2A.

so not only are they one of the largest public schools in 2a they then get to choose players from another 600 plus. essentially they are choosing from 4-5a enrollment but only having to play 2a. they are the definition of select if there ever was one. they are recruiting athletes from all over the parish to come play football for them.

its horse shite!!
