I wasn’t a fan of Mike when I first moved to bossier. His voting record was eh. Over time I am starting to respect him and appreciate having him as a rep.

Question: I have talked to Mike a few times and felt he is a genuine person. He is the only politician I can say that (most seem slimy). Have any of you baws met a politician where you think is genuine?

And no I am not campaigning for him.

One of the very few good guys in Washington and does not do whatever fills his bank account the fastest. And very smart. He needs to be the next US Senator for Louisiana.

I’ve met him, subscribe to his newsletter and fully support him. His staff has responded quickly to some of my email questions… he is indeed a decent guy.

It’s almost like he’s working for his constituents.

I went to church with him before his political days. He was very nice back then. But for the most part, I don't trust anything coming out of the mouth of a politician. He may be an outlier though.

It’s funny you mention this. We showed up late to church one day and he pulled up next to us rushing his family. Like any other man. It was comical. We laughed and chatted.

Met Lindsey Graham once, and let me tell how great of a Senator he is. Just a real class act... FOR ME TO POOP ON!

I am sure most politicians always start out as genuine people. It's just a matter of time until they get into moral dilemmas which change the course of their ways.

frick money being root of all evil. It's power.

Sadly the ones that try to stay genuine end up being overthrown by those who stoop down to the levels that ensure they win.

Zero chance. 90% of the politicians I have met you can see right away are in it for themselves.

And these are republicans. I would imagine the Democrats are far worse.

You can tell he’s a good guy by the loads of progs who are constantly crapping on him, especially on his FB page.

Well then I'm glad I haven't met any haha. I guess thinking most start out genuine is just my wishful thinking of humanity.

Regardless, you couldn't pay me enough to be a politician.

Money, power and corruption are symbiotic. The triad of evil.

My mom knew the least genuine in La. history, Puggy Moity. And I watched his 1/2 hour campaign shows on local TV. He made a lot of money losing elections. It was a simple formula:

Bob, Fred, and Sam are running for Parish sheriff.
Bob gives Puggy $1,000 (in 1950 money) to enter the race.
Puggy goes on TV and says 'I'm not gonna tell you about Fred being a homo and Sam having a colored girlfriend.'

People are disgusted by Puggy but fear the story is true so they vote for Bob and he wins.

Puggy cannot be sued:
a. Political campaigns lie all time.
b. He said 'I WON'T tell you...' not 'I AM telling you...'
c. All of his money was in his wife's name.

Graves seems genuine, at least as genuine as a politician can be.

Dude, politicians take classes and pay tens of thousands of dollars to experts on how to seem genuine. Greeting people, word choice, hand motions, facial expressions, posture answering difficult questions, clothing, grooming and a laundry list of other things are all well thought out to cultivate their persona. They are experts at coming off as genuine and because of that, you shouldn’t trust your instincts about them based only on their persona. Some of the most genuine and down to earth people I’ve ever met were absolute rotten to the core con men or criminals.

If you can’t tell if someone is genuine then I am sorry. Give me 5 minutes and I can tell.

He’s my favorite non-Graves La Pol based on the job he’s doing right now.

Only reason I like Graves better is because I live in his district.
