Three ideas are sounding pretty good:
Lake Tahoe/Yosemite--is a week enough time for this?
Las Vegas/Grand Canyon--is Vegas kid friendly? Thinking we would stay there a few days and spend a few days exploring the Grand Canyon area. Not sure how many days to allot for Grand Canyon. Never been there but always planned to go one day.
St John--best place to stay? Any other USVI worth considering?

I would also consider Southwest Colorado. Telluride, Ouray, Durango.
Tons to do and one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Rent a razor and drive it up immogene pass, go rafting, hiking, etc.

Tahoe/Yosemite:
Yes. Easily. 3-4 days in each should be plenty. I haven’t been to Tahoe, so I can’t make any recommendations.
Yosemite is just awesome. My favorite NP and I’ve been to several. We camped on the valley floor, but you can reserve lodging in the park through the park website. I imagine they go fast. Stock up what you need and get familiar with bear protocols (lockers, etc).
Vegas/GC:
Many of the resorts are kid friendly. You have teenagers, so I’d suggest Mandalay Bay (this one-lol), Flamingo, Hilton Grand Vacations, or Caesar’s. Day trip out to Red Rock Canyon or Hoover Dam. Lease your car from one of the hotel sites in Vegas. They’re cheaper than the airport and you can Uber/shuttle to the airport.
You can day trip to GC. I recommend staying in Williams or Flagstaff if you’re not the camping type and want more than a day. There are some hotel type lodgings at GC, but they can get sold out fast. Check on the GCNP website.
Should you choose to stay in Flagstaff, you can take US 89 north to AZ 64 and come into GCNP on the east entrance at Devil’s View. We missed our exit coming north to 40 west and it ended up being a beautiful mistake. Devil’s View has great vantage points of the Canyon while being less crowded.
You could do 3-4 days in Vegas (which is about the max I’d recommend) and then 3-4 in Sedona with a day trip from there to GCNP-Devil’s View is the way to go from here as well. With your budget, you can afford this easily. I recommend the Hyatt Piñon Pointe for a family.
St John:
I am an avid cruiser and St. Thomas is my favorite port for one reason: I can book an excursion or charter a boat over to St John. I love the USVI. Being there makes me feel like I’m in Pirates of the Caribbean. But St John is special. The island is 3/5 preserved National Park; it’s beaches are pristine. You can ferry to St Thomas or the British VI (passport needed to go over there). Shopping is good. Spas. Snorkeling. Sunset cruises. Scuba. Hiking in VINP on St John.
Sounds like you’ve narrowed down to three great options. Propose these to the fam and let them decide. You can’t go wrong with any of these.

I took the family to Yosemite 2 years ago and that was amazing, stayed in Yosemite West in an Airbnb. The scenery there is surreal, especially in a spot like glacier point. Can't go wrong there.
St John is a special place for us though, amazing place with great beaches. If the kids like beaches this will be their favorite beach/beaches ever. Amazing sand, usually calm crystal blue water and basic snorkeling right off the beach that they will encounter all kinds of sea life, including green and hawksbill turtles.
I don't think you could go wrong with those two options in my opinion, but, if they love beaches you can't bet St John.

Agree on St. John. It’s an amazing island. We prefer to stay right in Cruz Bay for walking access to dining.

Technically you could take this and add in some of the Utah parks as well. We were planning on doing it spring of 2020 until Covid shut us down.
Our plan was fly to Vegas, drive to Williams, AZ and do the Grand Canyon, then take US 89 north to Page to hit Horseshoe Bend, then 89 on through Kanab and up to Bryce Canyon. Then hit Zion on the way back to Vegas via Hwy 9 into St. George.
It would be a lot of time in the car, but you'd see some great scenery. Could also skip Page and take 89A which runs along the edge of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and the road to North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

This is a great idea. Did this for Zion a couple years ago and doing again for Bryce and others this year. Wish I had gotten to do those trips as a kid that age.
Around that timeframe, Glacier or Grand Tetons/Yellowstone would be great. So much you can do in that area.

Rather than start a whole new thread - Do you have any suggestions (besides Westin) in Cruz Bay that are higher end or at least nice for a honeymoon? St. John is our front runner for our honeymoon in March, but Westin is booked and everything else I'm seeing is more of the older beach shack type of place.
We have nothing at all against that and will go that route if needed, but it isn't really "honeymoon" feeling so just wanted to see if anyone knew of something I'm not finding.
EDIT - We don't drink and drive, so somewhere walkable to food/drinks/beaches is preferred.

Wife and kids are heavily in favor of the St. John trip so that's what I'm looking into now. I'd like to avoid the crowds as best I can, which I am thinking means I need to get a rental to travel between stores, restaurants, beaches, etc. Any benefit to going with a travel agent? Never used one for personal travel before but this is out of my wheelhouse.

If you want to walk Gallows Point or Grande Bay are what I’d be looking at for VRBO or Airbnb. Grande Bay is in a better location but Gallows Point is still nearby.

Everyone I know does Airbnb/VRBO for St John. It’s not a resort heavy island

If I had kids that age, and that budget, I'd go to Sun River Resort near Bend OR. Stayed there last fall. It has it all. And you can do daytrips to Bend or Crater Lake.
#2 on my list would be Este Park CO. We stayed at Pine River Resort and loved it. Real close to the park entrance.

A cruise or resort is the best kind of family vacation if you have children. On vacation, everyone wants to relax, eat well, and sleep a lot. When you choose an active type of recreation, you have to keep an eye on the children in parallel, think about travel routes, etc.
But if you choose a hotel with luxury accommodation near me, you can relax. I live in California; there are many good resorts here. Even The Eagles sang about our hotels, lol. If you can decide, contact me and I will advise you about good places to stay and some interesting sights.

It’s kind of far, but Yosemite is a fun trip that’s somewhat in the area. Might be best for an overnight

I don't consider Vegas kid friendly, but the Mandalay Bay pool is great. Or stay somewhere like the Delano, next to the Mandalay Bay and use their pool. The Delano is all suites/condos and non-smoking. Go to Hoover Dam, maybe do something at Lake Mead or Black Canyon River stuff (rafting, kayaking). Vegas itself, is bars and casinos, with a bunch of shopping and restaurants thrown in. There are a few rides, like the NYNY Rollercoaster or the High Roller wheel. You can often find High Roller discounts on Groupon or LivingSocial. If you do this, try to do it at sunset right after the Vegas lights come on.
I would either do Tahoe/Yosemite or Vegas/Utah parks.
Yosemite is just amazingly beautiful. There are many iconic views. It's my favorite park. The cliffs are just breathtaking. If you do Yosemite, watch Free Solo that about Alex Honnold who free climbed El Capitan.
