Car hit in parking lot and driver fled. Any advice?

This is pretty sad.
My daughter (no pics) is graduating from ULL next week. WE bought her a new car (Honda Accord). Tonight at Chick Fila in Lafayette an Ahole backed in to her and bailed. She got the make and model and two Letters in the license plate. (Texas plates). Chick Fila has the video but can't make out the plate #.
Anyone had this happen (Hit and run thing)?
I am pretty sick over it. Any help would be appreciated.

This. Don’t waste your time trying to “make the other guy pay”. They are probably broke. This situation is the exact reason why you carry insurance.

Yes, 99% chance it's a trashy frick with no insurance, it's what they do. Been hit multiple times and they never have insurance.

Police report and an Uninsured Motorist claim. Took it to the State Farm Claim Center, no problems.

Why would you buy a brand new car for your daughter who’s graduating college and is about to have a decent paycheck/career?
I’ve heard of buying a vehicle for kids graduating high school because they don’t have immediately paychecks but a 22 year old college graduate going into the workforce?

Do everything you can and demand help from the authorities ! Agree that the most important thing is the safety of your daughter But it is sad to hear comments that you should disregard the blatant crime and only seek help from an insurance company ! That attitude is why we are in deep trouble !!!

Police Report and have them work with chikfila, there's a slim chance they could have the person's name from the order or pics of the driver if they went inside. This is why us with decent possessions carry insurance, it's to help us in cases where trash ruins our stuff

Or they were drinking. I had a guy rear end me (calm down, Aggies) once and he just bolted after I said I wanted to get the police to come make a report.

The OP is not in law enforcement. That’s not his role in society and has zero authority in the matter.
