I’ve been toying with the idea recently of starting to read some of the Tom Clancy Jack Ryan books. Should I? If so, where should I start? Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

They were great.
I’d start at the beginning with Hunt For Red October and go from there

Love Tom Clancy novels. He's one of the few authors that I've reread books multiple times. I'd recommend publication order. Though you don't have to do that except for Debt of Honor and Executive Orders which should be read in order.
I haven't read all of the his co-authored books but they are on my list. Also read Red Storm Rising which is fantastic and Rainbow Six.

I prefer to go by release order vs chronological because there are inconsistencies sometimes with prequels and well, that’s how you had to read them when they were new.
For the Jack Ryan books:
The Hunt for Red October
Patriot Games
Cardinal of the Kremlin
Clear and Present Danger
The Sum of All Fears
Debt of Honor
Executive Orders
The Bear and the Dragon
Red Rabbit
Executive Orders is where I stopped. Cardinal of the Kremlin is my personal favorite, a great spy novel, great pacing. Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger next both far more detailed than the movies.
Clear and Present Danger is where he started to get way more complex and Debt of Honor was the “jump the shark” book for me. Still entertaining but not nearly as good as the early stuff

They are a bit dated now, but still a good read. A bit like reading John le Carre 25 years later.
Do read them in order.
