Curious what the splits are starting when this horse cleared and hit the gas That burst was extraordinary.

I would love to hear that Kentucky Derby race broadcasted by the guy who does LSU football games in Spanish

I know nothing about horse racing? Did Epicenter’s (or another horse’s) jockey mess up, did Rich Strike’s jockey deploy a good strategy, did all the stars align perfectly, or did Rich Strike just say “frick it” and wanted it more?

Strike was being a total dick. You could tell the trainer riding the pony was getting pissed about it too.

That horse was at another level once he got to the rail. Not sure I ever saw a horse speed up like that after already running a mile.

This cat is such a crazy unconventional horse. He was running down the stretch turning his head an looking all around. It’s like he was eyeing down his competition. He juked the horse in front, turned his head, and put his eyes on Epicenter.

Then after the race he was tearing up the neck of his pony. What a crazy scene.

Just rewatched. Watch him down the stretch with his head turned to the side staring down his prey. Freakin hilarious.

I think all anyone really knows is that Rich Strike ran way faster than every horse at the end.

One of the most amazing finishes I have ever seen in horse racing. That call will be a classic.

First time seimg the Derby results. Wow

The way he split between those two horses looked like a move from the arcade game Pole Position. What a move then turned the jets on

The announcers had no freaking clue that Rich Strike was even in it until the last few lengths

Those horses can probably kick it into high gear whenever they want.

I give mad props to the jockey, who I've never heard of before. It was one of the better rides I've seen. He made all the right moves.

Rich Strike did that, and still ended up 13 lengths behind Secretariat's derby time, which is still the record 49 years later.

RS wasn’t even supposed to be in the race yesterday, but was called to fill in at the last moment when another horse scratched. They literally signed up for the race about 30 seconds before the deadline.

I think this Derby is just as epic as Big Red’s, but for different reasons.
