These are the types of things where we need civil disobedience. Tell them to frick off and open it anyways

I always hear that they switch to a “summer blend” at refineries this time of year, and that at least partially contributes to a rise in prices.
Is that true oil and gas guys?
Works similar to ultra low Sulphur diesel. The regular diesel and gas is still being made. They just can't sell it here so they ship it overseas. The supply of available gas and diesel we can burn is reduced drastically and raises prices domestically.
Does anyone think a refinery retrofitted the entire place when ultra low Sulphur diesel was required?
No, they only rolled over or built a section of the refinery for the new process. The old shite is still being made and still burned around the world. They just decreased supply here and the price sky rocketed.
If they were to stop requiring this ultra low shite here you'd see diesel prices drop dtrastically overnight. We'd have a shitload more supply here to utilize.
There is a reason for years diesel was so much cheaper than gas....

Rumors of looming gas shortages may be playing a part, as I know those are going around.
People keeping more gas in the tank because they aren’t sure when they will fill up next makes things worse because demand goes up even if people are driving the same distances.
Problem is that I don’t think the rumors are unfounded.

Diesel with sulfur limits above the ULSD threshold would likely void the warranty of any tier 4 diesel/engine w/SCR... maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can confirm or correct that, but the ULSD was required for emissions/catalytic converters.
You could sure run the old stuff in anything before 2008 or so, though.

Not only that, but diesel engine oil can't handle high sulphur fuel anymore. It isn't designed for it, and oil will get acidic if the engine is ran on high Sulphur fuel.
The problem isn't ULSD per se, its the fact that now production is split between ulsd and regular fuel oil for overseas use.

What’s the problem? I moved a lot of my money into energy stocks at the beginning of the year.
Thanks

You will still pay for it somehow.

Lol I mean that is how the oil markets work.
Problem was tapping the reserve. The point of the reserve is to keep a supply interruption from shutting down the country.

It was 3.65 last week and today it is 4.09 in NC!
Biden to America: “Empty the reserves to help ease the Putin gas price hike”. Biden to Europe: “we are sending oil to you because we are allies!”
Biden to America: “we will now buy oil from others to fill up the reserves”
Americans to Biden: “You suck!”

Oh btw, "frick you" Joe Biden
A bunch of people put all of their attention and energy towards worrying about a safe vaccine, while the country was going to hell in the background. Now people are starting to focus on the real problems at hand.

I’m surprised a certain poster with a single letter username, like R. Hasn’t asked a stupid question to deflect away from the consequences he voted
for.
“Durr, people still pay attention to gas prices?”
for.

Alaska has averaged 3.74 active drilling rigs over the past 10 years. Either they are really fricking good at drilling or the governor is posturing.

Please explain the sequences of events that would lead to a gas shortage.
