What do you consider a box of salt?

I see people always saying a box of salt.
Serious question. Do they mean a 1 pound carton, a 2 pound box, or a 4 pound box?
I assume they mean a 1 pound carton but my mind immediately goes to a 2 pound box, because it’s in a box.

Round ----> Cylinder of Salt
Square ---> Box of Salt
Square ---> Box of Salt

See, that’s the correct answer. And cylinders are 1 pound and boxes are 2-4 pounds.

Not sure I have ever said box of salt.

Ice cream salt comes in a box. 4 lbs each.

for crawfish a box of salt is the 1lb cylinder. I assume that’s why you are asking

You know what a box of salt is. Stop trolling because you're bored with your life.

As I said, serious question, no troll. But go ahead and get snippy with me because you need to feel like a big boy tonight.
I assume it’s a 1 pound cylinder, as I said.
But to me, a box is a box, not a cylinder, as I said.
I want to know what other people are meaning when they give a recipe that says box of salt.

I'm pretty sure we are all guilty of this considering we're on a thread discussing salt container terms.

I’ve never heard anyone refer to a box of salt. But I know what a box is and I know what salt is so if anyone ever said it then I’d know what it meant.

No idea why this is getting hate

Why is this even a question? It's a 1 lb. container of Morton's or whatever size other brands of salt come in---usually no more than 2 lbs.
When Costco sold salt in bulk, I'd buy the 25 lb. bag of it and put it in sealed containers in my pantry. They still sell flour, rice and other stuff in bulk, but no longer sell the salt.

This has nothing to do with this.

So by your own definition, it can refer either to 1 pound or 2, and you wonder why it's a question?
Doubling the salt is kind of a big deal
