What recipe other than a seafood boil calls for a box of salt?

So by your own definition, it can refer either to 1 pound or 2, and you wonder why it's a question?
It's a stupid question. It's like saying "What's a can of tuna or a can of tomato sauce?"
You can buy the small cans or the family size cans to fit your needs.

It's not a stupid question when half the threads about crawfish recipes have "box of salt" listed as an ingredient. It's really not a stupid question when in this very thread, the consensus appears to be that a "box" of salt actually means a cylinder of salt

No, it's like saying a pack of tuna when you mean a can. A cylinder is not a box, which is why the question is needed.
And yes, people say box of salt for seafood boil recipes. There's a response in the chackbay for 100 quart thread right now that says 2 1/2 boxes of salt. So is that 5 pounds or 2.5 pounds? As I said, I assume they mean a 1 pound cylinder, but they say box and I'm asking what the consensus is on when someone says a box of salt in a seafood boil recipe.

A box or cylinder of salt IS NOT 1LB!!!!
Seriously they have pictures of the box in the thread and so many idiots keep saying it is 1lb, and it is not, unless there are now 26oz in a pound.
Boxes are TYPICALLY square or rectangular but can be round. The only defining shape is that it has a flat bottom.

We are using short hand to say 1 pound instead of 1 pound, 10 ounces. Sorry.

Whomever is writing recipes with the measurement "a box of salt" is a complete and utter failure at life.
Why would someone use such imprecise measurement?
Obviously, you could figure out the answer to your own question by correlating the salt content to the rest of the ingredients in the recipe.
Unfortunately, you failed to provide context to your question in the O.P. therefore, providing a concise answer can only be accomplished under presumed assumption.
I will refrain from assuming what you meant in your question to avoid making an arse out of me, but I cannot save you from the same fate since posing such an incomplete questions has you already made an arse out of you.

Surely you see how confusing this is when Morton makes an actual box of salt, right?
Posted on 5/4/22 at 12:55 pm to LNCHBOX
It's not confusing. A box of salt is a box of salt, not a container of salt. Unless it's referenced in a crawfish boil recipe, then a box of salt is a box of salt that is not a box but since it's cardboard, it is a box, but it isn't the box of salt in the stores and you cannot confuse this box of salt with an actual box of salt.
But we are the dummies for not understanding that when talking about a crawfish boil recipe, a box isn't a box but it is a box because it's cardboard even though it's not the box of salt.

Say baw, all you need for your crawfish recipe is this:
- fill water to 24th hole in basket
- Add a bottle of liquid boil
- Add 3 bags of zats seasoning
- 2 containers of salt
- 1 box of lemons
You done
