Anthony Gustin recently dropped a 2-part series on industrial oils in our diet on his podcast:

1st episode

2nd episode

IMO, really worth a listen. There's a fairly persuasive case that consumption of this garbage is the single biggest culprit in bad US health outcomes.

Truly frustrating that industry groups like the American Heart Association STILL are putting their stamp of "heart health" on crap like corn oil.

I don't think anyone with an honest agenda doesn't already know this.

I pretty much agree, but this guy goes into the weeds a bit in a way that is still really accessible.

But also - there's still plenty of people for whom this is still obscure info.

One good point he makes is that - despite being very toxic - these oils are not ACUTELY toxic, so we end up consuming them without realizing how bad they are. (And, in fact, we don't really have the ability to detect their rancidity the way we would with, say, spoiled fish oil.)

So without watching, what oils does he recommend cooking with?

That's actually not what they talk about. The focus is more on the fact that virtually ANY food from the store or a restaurant has at least some bullshite oil in it. It's REALLY hard to evade. Not putting it in your homecooking is just assumed.

Eh, maybe. It's sort of like how you know big tech is spying on you, but when someone shows you the actual extent of it, it's still surprising.

Generally The only oils you want to cook with/consume are olive oil, coconut, and avocado

I actually fried some alligator in tallow last weekend over an open fire in cast iron. Was phenomenal.

I use Kerry gold butter, ghee, or bacon grease. Oils aren’t needed really.

I use Olive Oil for just about everything that requires oil. Fried eggs, binders for meats, etc. I see no reason to use vegetable oil in home prepared meals.

This is particularly true for steaks.

I’m ok when globalists put deadly stuff like this in crap foods because it’s people on food stamps who eat all the processed food

Um, no it isn't. This crap is in almost everything at every store. The fancier stores (Whole Foods, Sprouts) tend to use sunflower and safflower oil, which they brag about, despite the fact that those 2 are likely the highest in lineolic acid of any of the seed oils. (70%)

Almost any restaurant you'll eat at will be using some type of nasty seed oil.

All I eat is like ground beef, vegetables, and stuff i kill

Like I say, I support processed foods being terrible for people but it’d probably be better if they just made you sterile
