Tell me where to fish with a guide...

I sold my boat years ago because I didn't have time to use it. I have some time off of work the next few months and want to fish with a guide for a few days. I want an easy trip. I'm in the New Orleans area and willing to drive 6 or so hours and will fish inland reservoirs, rivers, or coastal. The most important criterion is peace/relaxation. I don't care whether I catch bass, crappie, speckled trout, or redfish. Where can I go for some peace and relaxation, nice scenery, and a few fish? Thanks in advance.

Im going to GI in about 2 weeks for a trip I got as a gift. I do have my own boat also but really looking forward to the trip.

In general I prefer saltwater trips but in terms of relaxation and scenery freshwater wins by a mile. When I think of guided saltwater trips I think fast paced. Freshwater to me has more of a slow and relaxing feel to it.
Having said that do whichever you prefer.

If you come towards Toledo Bend, give us a holler. A day on the pontoon, relaxing, watching eagles, and catching loads of crappie is pretty hard to beat. Bent Rods Guide Service

If you want fish VENICE.... Nothing else will compare if you want redfish etc and way closer than 6 hours.

Drive 7.5 hours to Heber Springs, AR. From there you can fish rainbow and brown trout in the Little Red River, stripers and bass in Greers Ferry Lake, and smallmouth in some of the headwaters. Then drive up to Cotter on the White River and fish for more trout there and on the Norfork River. The White also has smallmouth and you can fish them on Crooked Creek, as well.
There are plenty of guides in all of those places that will provide all of the tackle. Take a look at Gaston’s on the White River. The Ozarks are hard to beat for scenery.

Venice or Delacroix. I would say Delacroix for quiet relaxing fishing. They been hitting the specks pretty good out of Delacroix and always can hit the reds.
I've used this guy at least 6 or 7 times for redfish and never been disappointed.

I am in the same boat as you, but that is just a figure of speech since I sold my boat as well so all I do is fish with guides. I got some good advice a long time ago that if it flies, floats, or fricks to rent it, so that is what I do other than the frick part, I am married. Back on topic, I fish in Hackberry with Hackberry Rod & Gun for inshore in LA. Great owners and some solid guides. I essentially show up, eat, spend the night, wake up and fish. Kill a few White Cans in the process. If we do a couple of days then it's nap time after and then rinse and repeat. It is low stress which fits your criteria and within 6 hours of NOLA.
That Toledo Bend trip sounds very interesting as well.

I'm intrigued by this trip. Is there a lot of "small river/stream" wading type fishing available there?

Yes. You have to watch the dam releases on the Little Red, the White, and the Norfork, but otherwise you can wade.
Guides also have boats that are like fiberglass jon boats they use on these rivers, and you can also book a drift boat trip. Most of the docks also rent boats.

More interested in a solo trip. Drive to a area close to a little shallow wade fishing spot and camp and throw some flies.

There are lots of campgrounds and wade-in access up and down the Little Red, the White, and the Norfork.

Minimum flows and power demand has made wading on those three rivers more difficult. I wouldn't classify any of the Arkansas trout rivers as small stream. They're all tailwaters (minus the Spring River) that fish more like western rivers than Appalachian streams

I'll be at the Little Red next week for the first time in 15 years. We are doing a guided trip on Friday and a self-float on Saturday, with time to stop and fish all of the riffles, shoals, and holes. I plan on hitting some of the wade-in access on Thursday afternoon and Sunday morning. I'll be interested to see how it has changed, if it has.

Yeah don't fish the Spring on the weekend unless you want to deal with a bunch of drunks on tubes.

The canoe hatch on the Spring is very real, but it is a very fun place to fish. Lots of trout, but you won't catch the size fish that you catch on the White, but it a much better place to wade. I do my fly fishing there. The most fun I have ever had with a jerk bait (more like a dozen jerk baits) is fishing under the trees on the Little Red when it was 100 degrees and they were running water. If you are looking for guide on the White Cranor's has the best, and you will catch a Big Brown. I fished Bull this past weekend and smacked the bass. It's hard to not love a place where you can go catch all 3, and usually a random walleye or big crappie. The lakes are good right now, and will be at Norfork the weekend jerking them out of the buck brush. I am from LA, and since moving to AR have absolutely fell in love with fishing in the Ozarks.
