Is this a new thing? Some sort of secret protest?

In the past few weeks I’ve seen multiple people with a regular fricking grocery cart in the self check out line.
I’ve never seen how long they take, as I see them going in, and pass them still checking out, when I leave.

Yesterday beat them all. This one family, had a fricking full sized cart, filled to the brim unlike I’ve seen since I was a child. And they were in the self checkout line,….there’s more to this. Are they stealing? Seems most likely scenario

Problem is no other lanes open.

the store I shop at usually has one staffed checkout open - that's it. All the rest are self-checkout now. There's not really much of a choice.

I'm quicker than whatever crackhead cashier is working the register, but I usually do delivery nowadays.

I pride myself in and make an effort to do things as quick as possible. At the drive up ATM and at the self checkout are two of those times. I know what I'm doing ahead of time. I can't stand the fricking cigarettes who have to take the time to think about every move they're making.

Yeah, I’ve checked. Always other lanes open…and they’re not backed up enough to even take a chance bagging yourself.

The one I saw yesterday was literally unbelievable…that’s what led me to post this.

Thinking more, there is zero way for the store to check if everything was scanned. I’m talking about a jammed packed big cart. Over 100 items and no way to put that shite on the scale thingy.

STFU. You want me to stand in line behind the EBT queens and scooter in the 2/32 aisles they have open?

Petition your city council for an “Express-Self-Check-Out”

I’ll still be in that mother with 30 items.

My first ever job was a cashier at a grocery store. I'm still far, far quicker than most of the idiots working a cash register these days.

Can’t write checks, can’t use coupons, can’t pay with an EBT card, and now can’t use self checkout. What are people allowed to do in the grocery store?

They suck more than the old folks that wait to start writing a check until all their crap is checked out and loaded in the basket

I try to avoid that, but if there are only one or two lanes open with long lines and open self checkouts... I am self checking.

Would be nice if they offered some sort of training on self checking out. The average human being just isn't capable and of course their cart is completely full....

I’ve memorized most of the produce codes at this point. I can get a full cart through self checkout quicker than the staffed cashier line,

Yep. Warm with warm. Cold with cold. Bread on top. Double bag the heavy shite. I believe that I could do it competitively. I’m kinda a big deal.

I hear you brother. But making groceries was a thing for them. You had a nice chat with the cashier and people in line.

My parents are 82 and tap a chip card and move on. But habits are real.

What grinds my gears is women on the phone while the cashier is done checking them out then start digging into their purse like it’s a surprise they have to pay. Then they try to find whatever they’ll use to pay.

What would you like them to do? Unless they’re in an express lane, I can’t see how you could possibly criticize them for trying
To purchase their groceries. It’s not their fault the store insists on self checkout. I’m sure they’d prefer to have a cashier do it. And what business of it is yours what they’re buying, how they’re paying? For that matter, what business is it of yours how much the store loses in inventory?
