What would happen if Putin nuked Ukraine?

What do you think would happen if Putin used a tactical nuke in Ukraine?
Not a turn it to glass full-on strike but if he sent a smaller nuke into Kyiv or one of the other cities?
Would the US really respond and get involved?

The stickied thread above had a bunch of discussion on that.

That would start World War 3 and the planet would be sent into a nuclear winter with most human life getting wiped out.

That might be enough to engage the UN.

Well that isn't comforting.

The stock market would tank and it would set off a chain reaction of food runs, shortages, and violence.
In response, internationally, there would likely be an officially declared war as well.
Would it result in a retaliatory nuclear exchange?
I would like to say no. It would likely depend on how significant the social breakdown ended up being.
I don’t think it would be immediate.
If we are talking solely in the United States, things could get very bad. There is minimal patriotic cohesion between the two major factions here and the opinions on response would be wide and varied.
Not to mention the almost unanimous mistrust the populace has in the US government.
Overall, US society would devolve and breakdown, IMO.
Honestly, I think a lot of that would simply occur in response to the initial bombing too.
The economy would grind to a halt, once again, at a time when it is clearly the most dangerous to do so.

First of all, Ukraine’s leadership is not as clean as the media portends them to be.
Secondly, you would think after decades long war, we would keep our nose out of this. Not sure why the current administration is getting a pass.
However, it is a good question. Normally i would be all about retaliation, but it seems to me that the US is once again fighting a de facto war behind the scenes by backing Ukraine, and I see no good answer to this scenario.
Any nuclear option would mean WW3 IMO.

What does this have to do with being invaded by Russia?

Are there any US Soldiers in Ukraine? No? Sounds like we're keeping our nose out of it.

No money.
No weapons.
Nothing.
That is keeping our nose out of it, IMO.
But that is for a different discussion.

US taxpayers save A shite TON of money that is being laundered through Ukraine

Yes. We’d establish complete air superiority over all of Russia and Ukraine and we’d mobilize our satellite based missile defense system and prevent any further deployment of nukes.
Using a tactical juke would be the dumbest move Putin could ever do if we wanted to win this war.

If Putin used a nuke, I bet the populous would get pretty damn cohesive quickly.
It would provide a common enemy and the vast majority would band together. If it’s a single nuke and remains confined to Eastern Europe, it might actually be a good thing for the American people from a psychology/unity standpoint. .

Biden’s staff would send Putin a strongly worded letter. Then Biden would read some things off a teleprompter and field no questions. Media blames Trump and is in crisis. Some black criminal gets shot by a cop and all focus shifts to that.

No American President is getting Chicago, Boston or Dallas incinerated because Kiev got nuked.

What satellite based missile defense system are you referring to?

George W Bush couldn’t pronounce nuclear but Biden probably doesn’t even know what the word means.
