On a similar note, we had a birthday party for our 6 year old. One of the dads brought his kid (never met the kid or the parents before), tells us he's going to home depot and he'll come pick up his kid later and just bolts. He showed up 30 minutes after the party was over to get his kid.

Kids are great. I’ve said it before but my son’s best friends are a Vietnamese kid, a black kid, and two white kids. They are all the same to him. He doesn’t give two shits what they look like, he just wants to play ball with them.

And I’m going to make sure I do everything within my power that he stays that way

Ok, well hear me out. The mom goes by Stephanie and her given name is Jing Jing. They prefer to use their Chinese names, which I want to respect. I just don't know his because I interact with the mom. So don't want to call him by his american name when he has told us his Chinese name and he would prefer we use it and I just don't remember it. I feel its rude to ask.

Until your daycare kicks out a child for being a racist at 4 years old. That's when my problem starts.

We did a party for my kid at rock n bowl. A mom who’s one kid we invited, showed up, dropped off both her kids and left. Mind you it was a 4yo birthday party (it’s what my daughter wanted). The son that was dropped off was maybe 6, at one point my wife turned around and saw him eating some other peoples food at their party, at the same time his hand was in the back of his pants scratching. Turned out he had a poo accident. We grabbed him, cleaned him, called his mom to come get them immediately. Never interacted with them again. Turns out the son was on stage spectrum. Had the mom let us know, we could have handled him differently (one of my older ones is also, so we suspended but weren’t positive). But for her to leave someone like that without notice was just poor parenting and downright scary. He could have run off, done anything

They are also from Wuhan, China, so maybe it's more a culture thing?

It is definetly a culture thing. I am sure I will offend but Asians in general have a different outlook on child rearing and childhood freedom coupled with self sufficiency. They just dont keep as tight a leash as Americans do on their children. I generally give my kids some rope but its not uncommon where I live to see Asian parents walking with their small (4-6) child riding a bike or walking way out in front of them, like 30-40 yards. I mean I'm not a helicopter parent but is it crazy to think that a kid that small might chase a friggin butterfly out into the street??? Different outlook I guess.

To reinforce, Today show did a segment recently on a new Japanese (I think) show where toddler age kids go out do these adult things (run errands, exercise, etc.) unaccompanied by an adult. Really strange.

Parents of a kid in my son's class are liberal nut jobs. They wouldn't let their son attend another kid's party at a paint ball place because it was too violent...

How old was the kid?

I hope they were at least of age, and the mom wasn't asking what you think about her 13 year old daughter's arse

1000% the mom was serious if she was asking. Cringeworthy but probably true.

Absolutely true. The mom (a former model by that time) and her daughters were somewhat narcissistic. The girl was then 10 years old. Don't blame me for the mom's behavior. Just factually relating a weird interaction with another parent per the OP's request.

Their son is maybe 1-2 years older than ours and just shows up in our back yard sometimes when he sees my son playing.

This is frowned upon these days? This was how all the neighborhood kids got together when I was growing up. Many games of back yard football, smear the queer, and flashlight tag were started this very way.

I had 24 at the house for my daughter's 17th birthday.

The following morning they all paraded around in their bikini's for the trip to the beach.

I purposely hid in the den.

Have you taught your son about gun safety? Doesn't sound like it if he was shooting unsupervised.

We grew up in the country and my 2 brothers and I had permission to shoot my dad's guns anytime we wanted.

I work with a lady who is from Thailand. They lived in a very rural part of the country with limited schools. She told me when she turned 12 her father sent her to school in the city with a cousin that was a year older. They travelled and lived with each other, zero adults present and with no adult supervision. They had to completely take care of themselves until school was out at the end of the year.

when my son was 11, we moved to a new small town. After 3 months my son complained that there was this bully at the school and she was always pulling his hair, hitting him, and knocking him down. Our advice was he should hit her back immediately after being hit.

The next day upon arriving home, the girls father started shouting at me for the son hitting the girl. My response was based on my sons description that was no girl he fathered.

Son was not bothered the rest of the school term

Was at a kids swim party when one of the single OT 7 moms decided she wanted to jump in the pool in her tshirt and jeans to quickly cool off. Let me tell ya, that tshirt clung to every inch of her enormous boobs as she got out of the water. She laid out in the sun to dry off, then left. The other moms there couldn’t stop talking about her.
