The always humble Richard Wright said he was just an organ player. Here is some greatness context: Meddle then Live at Pompeii then DSOM then Wish You Were Here then Animals. Its actually overwhelming all the excellent music there.
I've always been partial to Animals over Dark Side.
Probably because it's got more Gilmour in it's DNA.

Meddle will always be my favorite Pink Floyd album.

The documentary on the making of it is a very good watch. Made by Classic Albums.

Side 1 is essentially a part of my DNA at this point. I don't think a week goes by that I don't play, sing, whistle or hum some passage from it at least once.

Listening to any of the Floyd stuff with a cool buzz is still one of the greatest recollections.

I remember listening to DSotM for the first time while having it synced up with The Wizard of Oz. Well, I remember parts of it, anyway. I was significantly, um, chemically enhanced. To this day I still have a recollection of hearing the lyric, "lost along the avenue," which, of course, is actually nowhere to be found on the album.

Have you ever listened to Who's Next; that was done in 1971.

Yep, one of my all-time favorites. It's an outstanding album.

I will have to check that out. Thanks!

That Alan Parsons guy was pretty talented as well.
Came to post this. His impact can’t be overestimated. There is no Dark Side of the Moon without Alan Parsons

This is kind of like debating Pamela Anderson vs Carmin Electra in the 1990s but there is an easy argument that it isn't even Pink Floyd's best album but we don't need no education.

"easy" is a stretch but sure there are arguments to be made. I think what puts DS in a class of its own though is that for MOST people born that weren't already teens/adults in the 70s, DS is their first introduction to floyd. When high schoolers first start branching out their musical taste and are explosed to PF the first time they usually aren't getting copies of division bell or final cut from their buddies. It's almost always dark side which I think is one (of many) reaons it's held in the high esteem it is. It is most people's first taste and first love from the band.

This is the one band I regret never seeing live. Iron Maiden is #2, but I'm going to see them in October in Columbus.

As someone who was there then I can tell you that when “Money” dropped people were like, “what the frick is THAT!”
Then we bought the album and it was great from track 1 on side A to the last track on side B.

Never got it, artificial sound of 200 leagues under the sea? Not good, or average even.
