2018 Redeux: Trump's Warning to Germany ... I Bet They're Not Laughing Now!

Putin is threatening total cessation of Russian gas flow to Germany unless Germany pays for it immediately ... in Rubles. Germany is suddenly left to grovel or go dry.
As Germans now face the consequence of dependence on Russian gas, and what BASF CEO Martin Brudermuller references as their "most catastrophic economic crisis" since WWII, we should revisit Trump's 2018 warnings to them, as well as the mocking press coverage he received in response.
Oh, and ...
Willkommen in der realen Welt, Deutschland. Ihr seht aus wie totale Hündinnen!

quote:Interestingly, Putin is making the same mistake here that PotatoBrain did with the USD. PotatoBrain undercut global USD confidence with his ill-conceived USD-held asset thefts. Countries have to realize, "Today it was Russia, but tomorrow it could be me." Once confidence is undercut in a resource, whether that be a reserve currency or reliable natural gas delivery, it never fully returns. Russia had a good thing going with Germany due to imbecilic German energy policy. Now Germany may actually recognize it can no longer afford the luxury of its anti-nuke energy stupidity.

Trump accused Germany of becoming ‘totally dependent’ on Russian energy at the U.N. The Germans just smirked.

BERLIN — Out of President Trump’s speech at the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, it probably won’t be the script that will be remembered by diplomats but, rather, world leaders' laughter, caught on camera and shared in viral videos.
One of them captured the amused reactions of the German delegation as Trump said: “Germany will become totally dependent on Russian energy if it does not immediately change course. Here in the Western Hemisphere, we are committed to maintaining our independence from the encroachment of expansionist foreign powers.”
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas could be seen smirking alongside his colleagues.
It wasn’t the first time Trump had lashed out at Germany over its gas imports from Russia.
During a NATO summit in July, he took aim at the Germans for the same reason, specifically singling out a planned 800-mile pipeline beneath the Baltic Sea called Nord Stream 2. “Germany, as far as I’m concerned, is captive to Russia because it’s getting so much of its energy from Russia,” Trump told NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, also speaking on camera at the time. “We have to talk about the billions and billions of dollars that’s being paid to the country we’re supposed to be protecting you against.”
...
Trump’s attacks haven’t changed that calculus. After his July remarks, Merkel responded that she may be in a better position to judge her country’s dependence than the current U.S. president.
“I’ve experienced myself a part of Germany controlled by the Soviet Union, and I’m very happy today that we are united in freedom,” she said at the time.
On Tuesday, after yet another Trump warning, her top diplomats had only a smirk to offer.
I'll bet they aren't smirking now.

This post, if it showed the opposite, would lead be the subject of an exhaustive NPR or NYT broadcast/article.
But because it again shows that Trump was on our side and trying to warn Europe too, it will be buried. It is so impactful.
There are RINOs too close-minded to read this, OMBs too seething to click on this, and suburban white Biden-voting women too stupid to understand this article/post.
But despite all that, it doesn't change the fact that Trump was the best thing we've had in decades, and possibly was our last hope.

Of course they're mad. The world has seen their incompetence which conflicts with their personal beliefs of perfection as "demigods"
Have you ever heard of a sheltered egomaniacal, narcissist acknowledging an epic mistake and then altering policy course?
My friend you have not.And you never will.

This was also fuel for the “The US is no longer respected by the global community!!!1!1” line the media kept programming into their drones.
Whelp… any leftists want to repent? Say the obvious here? That Trump was right? And you were again misled?
Didn’t think so.

I wish Trump was still in office so he could hold it over their heads. Personally, I think Europe should burn. They have spent the past 80 years forgetting the lessons they learned in WW2.

They are laughing because progs/Brandon will just bail them out.

This is like the tapping my wires line. Everything he was ridiculed for was 100% true and people just move on like it didn’t happen when he’s shown to be right.

WOW - I had never heard that quote so precisely stated.
So damned true. WE shoulder the financial burden for protecting their asses and they use their wealth to become more 'open' and 'woke'
