We are definitely talented. But we still suck at 2 strike hitting. And it feels like every team we play not named Maine or a SWAC team are far better 2 strike hitters than we are (against us anyway).

I actually like all three of the guys I mentioned. Just blows my mind that they can't have success with anything other than a fastball.
In Gervase's case, I think he has a decent slider. Kelly just doesn't call it enough.

Hitting is not the issue, hasn't been the issue, will not be the issue.
I don't know why this is so hard.

It’s a team who in the previous season had a sub .500 conference record. Starters like Marceaux, who carried that team, are no longer here. This is not an elite roster. It’s not even close.

It’s a talented team that can’t make consistent routine plays (throws from 3rd / SS to 1b) and not a good starting rotation.
They have the more than enough time and talent to get in the zone to make a run…but they’re playing some bad ball right now.
It’s bad when I say “oh shite” eveytime the ball is hit to Thompson.

I don’t think anyone would deny that there’s talent on the team. There are legit 4 first rounders in Berry, Crews, Morgan, and Doughty.

You want to know how many pitchers we have that are on par with 2 of the best pitchers to ever play at LSU? LSU has only had 3 pitchers selected in the top 10, Kevin Gausman, Aaron Nola, and Ben McDonald. We don't have a guy like that on this staff, along with 99% of the other teams in the country.
Perhaps I used a poor example, but we don’t have any pitchers close to what wd have had to win in the playoffs.
And top 200 HS pitchers are everywhere. You say we have four and one of them is hurt so that leaves us at three.
How many do our competitors have?

My expectations:
Our team would be fundamentally sound. We’d be able to bunt, protect the plate, and work pitchers.
Our young pitchers like Money, Coleman, Floyd, Edwards and Hellmers as a group would improve demonstrably. Only Money has.
The new pitchers that we got would really give us a boost.
Some hitters like Milazzo, Bianco, Thompson and others who struggled last year would show a marked improvement.
Team results? Who knows, we play an awesome schedule. But I wasn’t expecting what I’ve seen so far.

Why would you expect dramatic improvement from players you don't believe are talented?

We don’t have good pitching we didn’t last year.Floyd an Hellmers aren’t SEC quality pitchers so be hard for you to see improvement when they just aren’t talented

Pitching wins championships PERIOD

Floyd has one of the best fastballs in the college game. But if he can't throw any kind of offspeed pitch, then you'll be toast at this level. To say he's not talented is just not true.

You can’t just have good pitching. See 2012.

They will improve. Johnson is a known commodity. Sit back and enjoy their progression. Having high expectations right now while they're still very much a work in progress will only let you down.

Outside of Money it's a bunch of arse
I thought Coleman’s injury was massive when it happened, but at this point I look at it as possibly season defining

We have talented pitchers.
Blake Money was a top 200 guy out of HS.
Grant Taylor was a top 200 guy out of HS.
Cade Lansville was a top 100 guy out of HS.
Javen Coleman was a top 50 LHP out of HS.
Eric Reyzelman was one of the top arms in the portal.
Devin Fontenot was one of the top bullpen arms in the country last year.
Paul Gervase has a ton of arm talent.
Garrett Edwards showed promise last year
this is like saying Les Miles had good quarterbacks. recruiting is a guessing game.

He has played baseball his whole life an has only a fastball to his name you answered it for me

Weren’t people telling everyone to calm down the last 3 years of Paul M term. It’s always the same shite. Half the side tells you to calm down and the other half wants to be better.
