so Dante Trudal dropped a post today about high dosed melatonin use and the effects from studies....wanted to see if anyone had expierence with doses of around 60mg or more. if anyone does chime in please.

quote:

Controversial Subject Alert: High Dose Melatonin. I am going to have to figure a way to put all this info in a short instagram post. There is virtually no organ toxicity at all in any Melatonin dose..None. They have never come up with rock solid reasons for the 1-5mg dosages widely suggested. The dosages stated are conservative and based on "various conservative thought". There are groups of people in the anti aging community and the cancer community that are taking up to 200mg of melatonin a day (THAT IS NOT A TYPO). 200mg!!! What has higher dosage melatonin shown in studies? lower blood pressure / cancer killer / extreme anti oxidant / eye health / extreme Alzheimers prevention+benefit / extreme cardiac and vascular health / raising of HDL, lowering of LDL- Trigs / shown repeatedly to be one of the most powerful longevity supplements (Years gained) AND THE SIDE EFFECTS OF HIGH DOSE MELATONIN? UH OH here we go, -- It has been shown to have a ridiculous reduction on Visceral fat (interabdominal fat) up to (WAIT FOR IT) 60% reduction in certain studies. So first of all, I am just reporting this information to you...I AM NOT suggesting it. I ask of you if you see anyone anywhere say "Dante Trudel recommended to take high dose melatonin"...I ask you the person reading this to please correct them on that fallacy and state yours truly reported the information for a educated person to study thoroughly and to make the decision for themselves or not. With that being said, it looks like 60-65mg is the sweet spot for a male human being regarding fat loss. This dosage MAY or MAY NOT have been used by myself and close friends of mine with extremely impressive results. Now some hypothetical "theory" here. If someone used said dosage, besides the beneficial effects up above I theorize that the following will happen to them.

quote:

I believe a person should work up to the hypothetical dosage over 7-14 days time. I believe a person attempting high dose melatonin for the first couple days could wake up groggy (maybe dizzy) and maybe not...but nothing a quick shower and 3 caps of Lions Mane cant fix. I believe a person could wake up in the middle of the night to urinate and also be ultra groggy/dizzy and also maybe not the first couple days. I believe any and all groggy side effects will pretty much be non existent after a week. I believe most people will sleep more deeply than they have in years. I could be wrong but i believe most bloated distended abdomen bodybuilders (who have much more visceral adipose tissue than the normal public due to a myriad of factors) will have a "WTF moment" about 5 days in when they see that their abdominal wall is getting "dug in" and the linea alba, intercostal vertical lines, and abdominal ridges become much much more "indented" for lack of a better word. I do not believe anyone with extreme sleep apnea (with no machine fix) should take high dose melatonin or even more so ANY KIND OF pharmaceutical sleep aids EVER. To me (especially the pharmaceutical sleep aid route while choking) is a one way trip of putting yourself into cardiac arrest under drug induced sleep.

quote:

Most but not all high dose melatonin usage studies have been done on rats/mice as is par for the course in science. Again I am just presenting some information to you in the hopes that you further study other groups of people who are using higher dosages of melatonin. Look at the health benefits shown (neuroprotective, cardio-protective) etc. Again I am not recommending. You can make your own educated decisions on this supplement after thoroughly studying A to Z on it. The Melatonin brand in the pic used I am not recommending necessarily, I am just showing a 10mg melatonin dosage for sake of this post.

Never taken more than 12mg. 12 knocks me tf out! I usually just take 5mg. Very interesting articles though. Hard to believe that no dependency issues would arise when taking that much.

I'm no expert, but it doesn't seem like a great idea to be taking high dosages of anything your body is supposed to produce naturally.

Research says different. Real world results do too that's why I brought it up and linked the studies

There is a 25g bag on Amazon for 25 bucks. So 125, 200mg doses...if you were to go that high.

ETA

There might be something to this:

NIH review article

And from the article "Notably, no side effects were reported in a report of a phase 2 clinical trial in which 1400 women were treated with 75 mg of melatonin nightly for 4 years."

The only time I’ve heard about this previously was from a co-worker that had Covid during winter of 2020. Her husband had some minor health issues so his doc recommended high dosage melatonin (plus Zinc and maybe one other OTC) to lessen the effects if he got Covid also.

I guess it was basically that doc’s version of a vaccine before vaccines were available.

IKR..

That alone is tempting enough to experiment with it for me. Hell, I started taking semaglutide-1 (Ozempic) to help with hunger levels and fat loss.

Definitely want to look into this more..

Apologies... I don't mean to be insulting. What I meant is that's not how applied science works.

You shouldn't just look at limited studies that show correlations and decide to MEGA DOSE the shite out of something based on limited data. bro science.

ETA: AND those studies are on rats, which often do not translate when those same studies are reproduced with human subjects

I realize that and it's why I'm asking for people who have done it.

There are studies that show no toxicity even at 400-500mg a day and are human studies that show some of these same benefits.

There are really no negative sides If you do not have sleep apnea or other issues. And since covid it's becoming prescribed by doctors at really high rates with no reported sides other then being groggy at first.

And it's not bro science. Bro science would just be taking something and saying it works with no proof. Their is data, although very limited, that shows this does work and has very real positive outcomes with very very limited negative consequences.

The guy that posted it is Dante trudal. Not sure if you are familiar but he is prolly the best in the US with helping bodybuilders get their health snd bloodwork corrected.
