Damn. You’d think there was ice on the roads with that kind of pileup.

That attorney who killed himself in Baton Rouge last night was a tad premature. This is a career-making accident.

Well I’ve been driving this bridge for years and I’m not sure what/who caused this crash. I will say that these big trucks are driving more aggressively than I’ve ever seen especially gravel trucks. They do not follow the law of staying in the right lane and very often are driving greater than 70mph. They all use waze so they know exactly where the police sit. Hell here lately I’ve seen some big trucks driving like cars bobbing in at out of traffic. Be safe out there.

I can confirm. Dump trucks are the worst on the basin. I guess they get paid by the load.

If only there was an agency that could enforce existing traffic laws. Perhaps a group with statewide jurisdiction who could patrol this stretch of the interstate to deter this type of driving. Oh wait.

And I don’t buy the Waze excuse. LSP could run unmarked vehicles and make a killing in traffic fines on the ABB just off the trucks alone. They’ve been derelict in patrolling since the start of Covid.

I didn’t, only that it was in downtown. Someone said the NIL deals were fricked but this is the OT and you can never tell when someone’s being serious or just being a dick so who knows.

Basin bridge, I-12 between BR and Hammond, Bonne Carre,

Seem to exist in the twilight zone where people just lose whatever limited driving skills they had when they entered the zone.

Had a buddy tell me he would write tickets to fill 100% of his shift and would only write cars going 20+ over on the ABB back in the day. Any time of day/night.

Would hate to be stuck on the Basin bridge with that kind of storm rolling through.

I remember back in the day they'd have a van radioing ahead and they'd pull the people over when they got off the bridge. At least that's what appeared to be happening and what I was told.
