Even though there was no tournament his first season, and his team lost a month of games due to Covid during his second season. But you knew that already.
He was 16-14 his first season, he wasn't making the tournament.
He was 2-8 in the conference games he played in 2020-2021. Everybody had to deal with COVID, why does Buzz get a special pass.
What is the excuse this year? He is in year 3, these are his players, its his program. Yet he had to go on 3 game winning streak at the SEC Tournament to even get on the bubble.

If we hire that clown Im done with LSU bball till he's gone, and I got every home game and watch every road game. What was Wade, 10-0 against him? With that being said I like to think Woodward is smart enough to not hire him but how handled the NCAA stuff is making me doubt it.

Could not agree more.
What confidence I had in Scott is fading fast. The deeper the dive into the NOA shows at the very least, you let the season play out and then sit down with Wade and find out what the response is to these allegations.
It is going to be damming when - after firing Wade - LSU takes the position in response to the NOA that the NCAA does not have sufficient information. That will tell you all you need to know on Scott's motivation for not letting Wade coach the tournament and firing him the first chance he could for cause under his amended contract.

Was everybody taking over a new team that was 14-18 they year before? Wouldn’t think he would make the tourney new 1 anyone the pandemic just adds another layer to deal with most especially recruiting wise since he couldn’t visit players or have them on campus.

Why does it have to be an excuse? You said it yourself it’s year 3. They went 9-9 in the SEC but made the SECT Final and probably should have been in the NCAA. I’d call it somewhat disappointing but not failure. If they regress next year we can reevaluate, that’s how it works, it’s always a work in progress. I know many of you don’t get that it your zeal to judge everything immediately

2019-2020 was his first year. They finished the season 16-14 before COVID hit
Wade took over a 10-win team and had them in the NIT then the tournament in his first 2 years, why would we settle for less than that.

In the days of the transfer portal, you better have it turned around by year 3. There are people on this board who called Wade a fraud because he never did any better than the Sweet 16 in 5 years. Buzz hasn't even made the tournament in 3...
Continue to justify this clown. If he ends up here, it will be a very expensive disaster.

Outside of clowns on this board speculating I see zero to think he would be a legit candidate here. He was a great candidate for A&M at the time coming off a sweet 16 and he had ties there. There are plenty of other candidates I don’t think Woodward is as lazy as posters on here to just hire someone because he hired him before

There was some chatter on twitter from some basketball reporters that he would be a candidate, not that it means anything.
I actually like buzz but his teams at Tamu have predominantly sucked.

What does this have to do with A&M? LSU is not in the same situation as A&M was when they hired Buzz. However
Bennett took over a 10 win UVA team didn’t make the NIT first 2 years made the tournament year 3 but missed it again in year 4 should they have cut the cord then?

Is this the best you’ve got? People on this board? People on this board are stupid their standards are completely out of whack to reality.

I’m not advocating for LSU to hire him I’m simply saying calling him a bust in year 3 at a school with zero basketball history that had been to 2 tournaments in 7 years before him is premature. Using it to bash the AD is stupid on multiple levels

Wouldn’t shock me if they got that from here or other tweets

I thought it was really good hire for A&M. Seemed somewhat disappointing this year until SEC run, I’ll wait a couple more years to pass judgement but there’s no reason for LSU to consider him plenty of other options

Would be surprised if he's there in a couple of years.

Why is it stupid? This is the sample size we have to judge Woodward's basketball hires.

Didn't want Jimbo. Don't want Buzzo.
Keep them at Aggieland...

His best season was 4th place in a high school level conference. No thanks

First off all judging decisions based on the outcome and not the process is generally stupid you can’t know the outcome obviously when you have to make the decision. objectively it looked like a good hire at the time particularly for A&M. Even if it doesn’t work out no one bats 1.000 so bashing SW and pointing and saying he sucks at basketball hires based on a 3 year run is dumb.
We don’t know who he’ll hire here but his overall record on hires is very strong, trust the process and wait and see how it works out

Well, he's made one basketball hire that has been underwhelming. Not sure what else you would use to judge Woodward's basketball hires...
Excellent point, what was the process on deciding not to let Wade finish out the year and let the IARP conduct a hearing before firing Wade. I can tell you what the outcome of that decision is going to be, a substantial setback to LSU's basketball program.

Absolutely NO to Buzz Williams at LSU.
If you cannot get a bigtime HC, get Todd Golden from San Francisco.

Seems fair to question which data points are being applied by the committee.
Not things are true. A&M got absolutely screwed by not being in the tournament.
Buzz Williams comes off as a cry baby punk by complaining about it. You want to make sure that doesn’t happen? Don’t lose 8 games in a row in the middle of conference play and schedule tougher OOC teams.
Also it is an extremely shortsighted thing to do. Does he not think the committee will remember this? Any team he coaches that is on the bubble will be left out for the rest of his career.

He hired Mulkey. He has some clue.
Look we all love Mulkey but lets be real. There are 5 good teams in womens basketball. There are probably 5 good coaches too. Mulkey is one of those, she is a legend and is from here.
Women's Basketball is easy to predict and make hires for especially for big schools. Basketball has 85 good teams and 85 good coaches.

Buzz Williams still has a better record than any basketball coach at LSU since 1918 except Will Wade.
Buzz has a career 0.610 winning percentage.
Will Wade has a career 0.671 winning percentage.
Regardless. I don't want Buzz. I want someone young (30s to low 40s at most) that is looking to build his own identity, eventual dynasty and become a Tiger.

Buzz was also just caught cheating too and if we’re gonna hire a dirty coach there are better options.
