This video came across my YouTube feed tonight. Never heard of beef bacon, but it looks pretty damn good.

YouTube

Has anyone ever tried this?

ETA: Guy in the video is a weird one.

I’ve never made bacon but I have both beef and pork bacon in the fridge.

Beef bacon is an oxymoron.

I don't know where to source beef belly. I've also been on the lookout for beef cheeks to smoke but I have a hard time finding those as well.

Never made it myself, but now default to beef bacon when cooking for breakfast.

Has a better, meatier, taste than pork bacon, but the grease is worse.

Both still have their place.

What’s your problem, bro? Why are you always trying to bash me? You and unclejhim really need to get me off your minds.

You're confused. I've never tried to bash you.

You did this to yourself, bro.

At that price, just buy bacon. I got the 2 pack of thick sliced hickory smoked bacon in 1 1/2 lb. per pack from Costco 2 days ago and it ran me $15-----so, $5 a lb. and all I have to do is cook it.

That's why I haven't bought any pork belly lately to make my own bacon since it is running close to $5 a lb. now. Then I have to brine it for a week and then smoke it for several hours and then slice and vacuum seal it. Not worth the hassle.

Restaurant depot used to have beef bacon and it was some of the best store bought bacon you could find….haven’t seen it in quite a while though. It’s made from beef navels.

No, but I have made lamb "bacon" before from trimmed lamb racks.
