This was posted on the poliboard but this was my fear of cars with all these electronics that can be programmed or hacked and controlled by somebody.

I do have serious concerns about purchasing any technology that "phones home", especially if it's necessary for operation. But in this case from what I have read, "they" in this meme is just people on Twitter tweeting at Elon. I don't believe any governments have been reported to have requested this, have they?

That's any vehicle now, not just EVAs.

I will own things
I will own land
I will eat meat
I will work hard
I will have many more children
and I will and be happy

If you don't like it

Anyway, yes all corrupt governments want to control their populace. I personally think we'll see the digital dollar in our lifetime, and we'll see them attempt to tell us what we can and can't buy with it. It won't last, of course - we'll find a way around it to get what we want and render it ineffectual and pointless

I’m just a simple man that likes less electronics in a car. I’m not a fan of cars with no key entry on the outside of the door handle and start engine push button.

stop paying taxes on it and see how long it's "yours". you're just renting the land via taxes bc our country is a country of poosies.

Why would I stop paying those taxes? Granted in the current economic money printing scheme taxes are essentially punitive and arbitrary, but in general there's only a handful of countries with no property tax, and in some states they actually use that money to support public services. Just not LA

If it can be taken from you, you don't really own it. Might as well ask why would a renter stop paying rent then.

The government will tax you for "owning" it, restrict your free use through zoning, and if ultimately necessary, take it from you for pennies through eminent domain.

You do realize when they ask Elon to do this, it will be Top Secret, and they will not announce it on the MSM

I think it’s another one of those political hit jobs using this “human crisis” to do so. Musk does not strike me as someone who is crazy about dipping directly into the private lives of mete anonymous citizens, and whoever is behind this scheme knows it. He seems to be a bit more educated and opinionated re: basic human rights and protections. They wanna frame it up in the public realm and seek to have Musk branded a pro-Putin greedy businessman couldn’t care less about America or Ukraine or all other NATO O
parties once he declines. I mean, just “turn them off at predetermined times I guess? What about people who happen to be driving at the time? Or a mother transporting her child via her Tesla through a desolate area?? This is bogus.

That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

Unless someone points something out to me that just makes me flat wrong. I’d survive that.

You do realize that Twitter is a proving ground for new progressive policies and ideas? That’s why democrats are bat shite insane in the first place

You also realize that Elon already had to address twitter wanting him to shut down Russian news sources via starlink?

There’s a reason he kept it vague as to which government asked him to do this. If they’re willing to ask him to do this, I have no doubt they’d ask about the vehicles as well

The issue isn't whether the people calling for this are legit or not. The issue is that he could do it. And THAT is the problem. The government and / or a corporation can shut down utilities and communications but I don't want them to be able to shut down private transpo or other personal devices.
