Somehow, Brian Kelly just pulled off one of the greatest moves since he left Notre Dame and got Jayden Daniels to come to LSU.

Can anyone name the last Graduate Transfer that came to LSU with two years of eligibility remaining? Joe Burrow. And he was not even considered a NFL starting caliber talent until he got to LSU. He was projected 6th-7th round pick

Here are some scouting reports I was able to locate online regarding Jayden Daniels...

quote:

As a guy who looked Bill Belichick in the eyes and convinced him to hire me, let me say Daniels is superior to Lance in every way. Daniels can actually make a defender miss in the open field. 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan would have looked like a genius, had he waited a year and selected Daniels instead of Lance.

quote:

- Dual-threat quarterback with athletic footwork and mobility.
- Instinctive runner with very good toughness - uses stiff arms and runs with good body strength.
- Generally accurate on intermediate and short throws; flashes anticipation and placement on intermediate outs and the ability to lead receivers on deeper throws.
- Picks up yards with his legs when needed.
- Possesses a strong right arm and is capable of making every NFL throw easily. - Can drive the deep out to the sideline from the opposite hash and has no problem threading the needle between closing defenders.
- Easily zips to all areas of the field, demonstrating very good touch on underneath routes to running backs and receivers, as well as down the sideline on deep passes.
- Very confident passer and shows good accuracy and feel when in rhythm. Showed better ball placement from past years and throws very catchable passes.
- Puts too much air in some of his throws and needs to show a lower trajectory on deep throws.

I’m going to call my shot and say he’ll be the 2nd best QB we’ve had when it’s all said and done.

It's much easier to play college football when you have already graduated. No need to focus elsewhere, all his mind will be on football 24/7

That said, he transferred here for a reason. He wants to become a 1st round pick and knew he had to make a move from ASU

He could be a great transfer for us. He could start this year and win a lot of games. He could contribute this year and start next year and win a lot of games. He could sit behind Brennan this year and Nuss next year and be an excellent backup that just never got a start, but this has got to stop:

He could be one of the best transfers we've ever gotten and still not be anywhere near as good as Burrow.

Sucked at ASU but is going to easily be the second best QB in LSU history.. why, because he’s new and Rantards are like schoolgirls who fawn over the new guy, every time.

He has not proven anything.

Depending on how he is utilized, he could add a much needed dimension.

But he didn’t suck . I bet you’re watching game film as we speak though so maybe I’m wrong.
17tds and 2 ints as a freshman shows he can be a good qb . That’s when he had a good receiver and decent line

I see you are pandering for votes in the race for president of the Brennan fanboy club. Maybe if you volunteer to suck his dick you will get the crown.

Daniels did not suck and he will win the starter position.

32 TDs in 29 games, about 200 yards per game, 1 season with a completion% over 60 and a passer rating in the low 140s. Plus his play has declined from that incredibly overrated freshman year, nowhere else are you gonna see people pimping 17TDs in modern major college football. Maybe the greatness is just bubbling beneath the surface but he’s been a below average player so far.

Didn’t even mention Brennan but continue building straw men and making homosexual slurs. Nobody cares that you’re gay but coming out in a passive aggressive way really isn’t healthy.

You have lost your mind if you think Daniel’s is even in the same stratosphere as Burrow!

I can’t tell if this is a compliment. Lance is terrible and it’s not hard to be a superior player

Sounds like a really good Running Back.

Can he consistently throw an accurate ball to LSU WR's against Big Boy SEC Defenses?

There were people, during his mediocre 2021 season, still clamoring and expecting him to be a 4th round draft pick if he declared for the 2022 draft, and a 5th round pick at worst (this is a 3rd year junior remember that).

I watched a guy that was a reporter from ASU media say the exact opposite of the second quote in OP, and it felt like he did everything he could to denounce his passing potential. Basically calling the kid dumb and unwilling to learn and adapt to the 2nd OC coach they brought in (in the nicest way possible). Remember the ridiculous hype fans and media put on Max Johnson before last season with some media people and fans thinking he could become the next Joe Burrow and others saying he has the "it" factor. They were all praising him and most pretty much just called Brennan shite. Those outside of the LSU bubble thought different though.

This season you got a guy coming in and those same people now think Brennan, who hasn't played a game or practiced full contact in damn near 2 seasons is somehow better and has a lead over a guy who has played the last 3 seasons, ran over 300 times in 2.3 years without injury, and has possibly the 2nd most college starting experience in the SEC now at QB. Do people not realize that Brennan has thrown a live game football to only one LSU WR that is still on roster? That we have an entire new coaching staff that has a history of utilizing dual threat QBs? That Denbrock was not hired before they brought Brennan back? Look at the commitment of Daniels to LSU. There was "hey, he might be interested in LSU", then a couple days later, "here he comes, and he's going to be here by the start of spring practice". Yall really don't think they actively pursued this kid once he hit the portal? They let all these other transfer QBs just walk on by.

See those guys still talking about him in a good way look at the potential if he was on a competent team with competent coaching and talent around him. People do realize we have a guy whose only job is to be the QB coach right? Do people not realize what Burrow did with his coaches to help him from year one to year two? Go look at Kenny Pickett with 4 years of miserable stats, and then 2021.

I said all that to say, so many people look at 10 TD 10 int and that he runs a lot so he must be a RB playing QB, and leaves it at that. Surface level bullshite and they put nothing into context or thought around why and how that came to be. They can't even fathom potential going from a shite situation to a good one. Can't fathom dual threat abilities over a statue in the modern game. Dude is a grad transfer. Attach Sloan and an assistant to his hip and watch the magic in the fall.
