what are the cheapest feeders that are worth a shite to hang?

We have a lot of them and they seem to frequent the Dollar Tree model most!

Ruby-throated ones have been around our place (Luling) for the last couple weeks it seems (I'm pretty sure we have some that stick around all year)

some subpar pics of one yesterday (didn't have my longer lens on when this guy showed up)

What does every one do about having one bird that is a straight up feeder hog? Anything? We seem to have a resident bird that wants to own all the feeders. No matter where we put them in the yard or how many we put. He will chase off every intruder into his domain.

I have read that hummingbirds are very territorial. Put out multiple feeders in close proximity (but not too close, 15'/20' between each of them) and the hummingbird cannot defend more than two feeders and will give up, making all of them an open buffet for everyone.

We have hummingbirds year round here in the desert. No feeders for me, but they always seem to find something in bloom.

I was pleasantly surprised by all the birds here. Apparently due, in part, because there are no feral cats.

Since seeing the first hummingbird a few weeks ago there are now two of them. I put up another feeder to try to keep them from fighting.

I haven’t seen one yet here in central Mississippi. I’m wondering if all the feed leaked out or something!

That's possible, but you should be changing out the juice every day or two...

We have had them in the Memphis area for a couple of weeks now.

Wife put out a feeder last week or so and there have been a few coming to it.

they’ve been working the honeysuckle hard around around my house and not five minutes after I filled the feeder they were lined up

One dickhead male I almost swatted with a broom though

They are draining my more birds feeder, I ordered a larger big gulp on like on the previous page. I’ve been using kaytee electro nectar but I’ll switch to homemade I think.
The male in the second pic runs everybody off, hopefully the second feeder fixes that. Apologize for the iPhone pics.

This is my 3rd summer in this house and every prior year I have had a couple feed all day and peek at 6-8 a day. This year I have not had any.

I did lose a nice Hibiscus but last year they showed up well before it was blooming.

Just saw a male ruby throated hummingbird on a butterfly plant in neighbors yard in 70808.

They won’t visit my feeders yet!
