Looking for about a week’s long married couples’ trip within a six hour drive of Northshore.

Broad range of interests. Hiking, restaurants, shopping, etc.
If a beach, preferably other things to do as well.

What are your best ideas?

your radius is houston, shreveport, memphis, birmingham, tallahassee. the only places in that radius worth staying a week is North Alabama or the AL/FL gulf coast

Get a cabin in Fort Payne, Alabama. Day trip to Chattanooga, etc.

Would be more like an 8 hour drive but consider going to canoe the Buffalo River in Arkansas. Your can also do the Hawksbill Crag/Whitaker Point hike which is beautiful. Eureka Springs is an interesting old hot springs town to check out with a few small shops.

for a couples trip. only place in that range I would go for a week is the florida beaches, but that would be with kids.

If you are going for an entire week you can justify more than a 6 hour drive.

We’re on Dauphin Island right now; first time & we love it. There’s not much to do, but there’s no traffic or crowded beaches.

Sedona, AZ is what you are looking for. You can be wheels up from MSY and in your AirBnB in 6 hours.

Rent a cabin in the Smokey Mountains. Or do the beach. Suck it up and drive more than 6 hours.

I feel like anywhere that is a bigger city its just going to be a pain to wrangle everyone. And you've all probably been to most of the places within 6 hours of you that are worth visiting.

This. Just did a Valentine's trip to Fredericksburg. Awesome little town with some solid restaurants and wineries everywhere.

All great points.
Really I was having trouble brainstorming. I suppose I’ve got to narrow down some parameters.

Just my wife and I and another couple.
Both myself and the other husband work outside so the idea of sitting on the beach as the lone source of enjoyment just doesn’t do it for us.
Wife and I just went to Sedona as per recommendations from here so ideally someplace like a Sedona lite would be perfect.
Anyway, time spent on vacation and travel time are certainly negotiable. Just threw those numbers out there. Preference is to drive but not totally against flying.
Thanks for the ideas

sooo...you’ve narrowed it down to the continental US except beaches?

tell the board what you like to do and see and you’ll get some good suggestions

My partner and I spent time together last summer and had a good time during our shared vacation in Florida. I know that many people find this place quite noisy and crowded, but I really enjoyed seeing the dunes of the lakes and being able to take pictures on so many really luxurious, fabulous beaches. So I've liked the decision of my BF that in order to spend as much time as possible together, it would be right to book not a room in a hotel, but use the services of vacation rentals management on 30a. I really don't like to stay in hotels for more than one night, such places don't seem to me cozy and setting the joy of communicating with a loved one. So maybe you should also think about how to make the atmosphere in your couple is more romantic?
