We will be in Barcelona, Valencia, Mallorca (both coasts), Malaga, Seville and Toledo.
Does anyone have a recommendation for can't miss restaurants in any of these cities? Of course, tapas are part of the expected dining along with the various mercados in each city for fresh local and cheap.

Barcelona:
Tickets
El Xampanyet
El Quim at the La Boqueria market
Bodega 1900
Went to about a bunch of other places that I just cannot recall right now.

Thanks. I don't leave until May 5th if you remember others.

I’ve got a huge list (heading over in early June).
Under the radar, place I love in Barcelona is Mosquito (if still open). Asian dumpling place with great beer selection. I’ll update shortly or meet you at Bleu Provence to plan!

Blue Provence sounds like a great idea. I still haven't been and it's at the top of my list.

FYI Tickets and Bodega 1900, indeed all of the El Barri group restaurants, shuttered over the pandemic. Group declared bankruptcy.
El Quim and Xampanyet great spots. Cinc Sentits also nice on the higher end (if still open).

In BCN
Barra Alta
Bar del Pla
Botafumeiro
I was once a frequent traveler there for work.

Yeah just looked that up that's crazy. Enigma is still open though.
In Seville there are a lot of great tapas places. Azotea is one that I recall offhand.

In Sevilla, we had a fantastic meal at Abantal. Full tasting menu was only 90 Euros and the service was the best I've experienced anywhere.
If you get sick of Spanish food, L'oca Giuliva in Sevilla has excellent Italian. A good spot for lunch too.
We spent two weeks in Andalusia a couple years back and had a great time, but I personally prefer Northern Spain, especially Asturias

Was always said el Bulli didn’t make money. Was one reason it closed.

In Malaga go down the main drag where there are tons of restaurants with chickens being roasted outside on rotating spits. The street is a block or two from the beach. I never had anything bad there and can't remember any of the names of the restaurants but the pollo, sangria, and paella are amazing. I ate my way across that city years ago.

We spent a week in Barcelona in 2016 and loved it. Beautiful city, lots to do and see, and many excellent restaurants. Here are our favorites:
Tast Ller - Tiny restaurant with a set tasting menu but the food was spectacular. Need reservations weeks in advance.
Llamber and Arcano are two tapas style restaurants. Fun, atmospheric places with very good food.
Cafe De L'Academia - Romantic candlelit bistro type of place. The filet with truffle sauce was so good we went twice.
Tapeo - Fun and lively tapas bar with gourmet level food.
The atmosphere is hip and modern as opposed to El Xampanyet across the street. We went to El Xampanyet too. It is the quintessential Spanish tapas bar. Casual, atmospheric and always crowded. The night we were there it was so crowded you had to muscle your way up to the bar. It was a fun place but we ended up going across the street back to Tapeo where the food and wine are more at gourmet level.
All of these places are in El Born or the Gothic Quarter and within a 10 minute walk of each other.
We stayed at the K&K Picasso Hotel which I also recommend.

I forget any particular places in Valencia, but the central mercado is amazing. You can walk around for hours sampling incredible 5J Iberico, fresh Mediterranean oysters, and all sorts of other wonderful things. There used to be a river running through the city that would flood frequently, they decided to re-route it in the 50s and built a lovely park that winds its way all throughout the town. It's very nice to walk/bike through and stop and grab a bite along the way. Be sure to follow it to get to the City of Arts & Sciences and check out the Santiago Calatrava buildings. Also, if you're into paella, Valencia is the place to get it. They make their version with rabbit and it is really good.

Tapeo is one of the places I couldn’t think of! Great tapas place highly recommend.
Seriously get to the La Boqueria market early before lunch so you can get a seat at La Quim. Get the foie Gras with eggs.
