Go to Ora D’Aria for lunch. It’s about 35-40 euros a person for a Michelin star meal, whereas dinner is much more expensive. We enjoyed our meal there.

In the Mercato Centrale (central food market), on the first floor, tucked away in a corner: Nerbone, a lunch stand with some Florentine specialties. Stewed tripe sandwiches, sliced beef sandwiches that get a dip in the cooking juices, a few seasonal specials like ribollita or beans. You order at the counter, get food on a tray, and sit at nearby tables. Very local scene, lots of little old ladies shopping.

In 2019 we spent 10 days in Tuscany including three nights in Florence. We ahe at these three places in Florence all of which were very good:

Ristorante Saint Ambrogio - On the Square of the same name. Had a delicious dinner there Easter Sunday night.

Ristorante Natalino - Another upscale gourmet bistro type of place near Santa Croce.

Cacio Vino Trallalla - Hole in the wall wine bar with delicious food on the alley behind our hotel.

Vivoli near Santa Croce and Santa Trintina at the foot of the bridge of the same name are two suburb ice cream parlors (gelaterias).

4 Leone for pear pasta and the bisteca.

A lot of good restaurants in Santo Spirito square.

We had a really great tasting menu at the Gucci restaurant.

I can’t think of the name, but there is a great sandwich shop a street in from the river about 4 blocks from Point Vecchio and also a cheap currency exchange right next door.

Those Florentine steaks are incredible. I have not had many of them because they are gigantic and are designed for at least two people. My wife won’t eat rare beef and if you ask for it any other way they will look at you like you are crazy.

But if you get a chance to get a real one, by all means go for it.

La Giostra is getting a ton of negative reviews recently. Maybe another restaurant is screwing them over? The tripadvisor reviews are pretty concering but also half of them seem kinda bullshite

Trattoria Marione al Trebbio was my favorite meal on our entire trip. This was several years ago though.
