I saw that. That’s tough man… I don’t like State but I love the sport of college baseball and you hate to see people get injured especially superstar pitchers/players.

10K out of 11 faced!? Dude must’ve sold his soul to the Devil or made a wish with a cursed monkey’s paw.

Mississippi State ace Landon Sims left Friday’s game at Tulane in the fourth inning after appearing to injure his throwing arm on a pitch.
Sims shook his right hand after throwing a pitch to the Green Wave’s Bennett Lee with two out in the bottom of the fourth and the Bulldogs leading 6-0. He called for the trainer and departed the game. TV cameras captured Sims upset in the dugout, his head hidden beneath his No. 23 jersey.

WTF happened did Sims feel something on a throw?

That’s not a good sign. Hope he heals up.

Does an injury requiring TJ feel like a stinger when it happens? Seems like a sure sign is trying to “shake it out”

Depends if a full tear or partial tear. A full tear will usually mean the nerve is injured in some way that’s painful the moment it happens. A partial tear is usually the tingle all the way down to the ring and pinky fingers. You may just think it’s muscle related and try to throw another pitch. Then you feel the nerve and it’s really painful.

This doesn’t sound right. I doubt the nerve pain is that uniquely specific based on a full or partial tear. Are we talking about Tommy John here? Because that’s damage to a ligament and not a nerve

Yes. I’ve had Tommy John. When the ligament goes, the pain you feel is the nerve since it’s still intact yet being “stretched” without the protection of the ligament stabilizing the joint. A partial tear can mean just a tingle. A full tear can be painful. Throwing after either hurts.

I’m not a doctor and I don’t know the why but I’ve been around baseball and tingling sensations in the hand is a classic symptom of a UCL tear.

The way that whole sequence played out reminded me of when it happened to Eric Walker in Omaha.
The way he shook the arm and with how quickly they yanked him makes me want to bet my life it's tommy john.

Did you have a full or partial tear? My highschool Buddy/teammate had a full tear and swears he not only felt but heard it pop and then it hurt like hell by the time he finished his follow through. Dudes elbow swelled like crazy before the game was over.

Partial for me. Even tried rest and rehab for 3 months since mine happened in the fall and I had time before I had to have surgery. It was my senior year and I wanted to do everything I could to finish my career with my brothers. Didn’t work out but no regrets.
