I'll never understand how blacking out a game for people 300 miles away makes any sense at all.
MLB blackouts have nothing to do with people attending games. They blackout broadcasts on national networks for local teams to make people watch the team's local broadcast (i.e., the local fox sports station or YES network or Marquee network, etc). That doesn't really explain this stupidity since there doesn't seem to be another broadcast, but there's probably some language in the contract prohibiting national broadcasts of any event in minute maid park in the local broadcast area.

That's what is so scary. I'm no computer whiz but after this thread and a couple others I am starting to feel like an IT professional

I have a stupid question...
...wtf does the Astros catchment area have to do with college baseball

Because the games are on the AT&T Southwest in the Astros stadium. Since the Astros are putting on the event, apparently MLB broadcast rules come into play. That’s the issue. And the rules are in play to get you, the consumer, to pressure your TV provider to pick up their shitty network.

Someone get Ronnie Rantz on the phone and have Jumbo Sports come to the rescue.

Are they blacking the games out in Texas since Austin is 2 hours away?
Probably.
Austin is in the blackout area of Astros and Rangers games on MLB TV.

it is kind of funny that an organization that can't get it's shite together to start it's own season is now fricking with games from another organization.

Then the event needs to be moved to New Orleans or San Antonio

bullshite shock-jock thread title. The games will be shown in Louisiana just not on the MLB Network. This is from the link in your OP

Nowhere in that tweet does it say it’s free. Just that it’s available elsewhere because of the blackout. It wasn’t until DRcoks thread that someone linked a release that used the word “free.” That’s where the confusion was for me.

So we can't watch great college baseball because of the MLB's drama? What a fricking joke.

Has nothing to do with the CBA

If you live in the US you can watch great college baseball. You just can't watch it on the MLB Network.

Those old Winn Dixie Showdowns in the Dome were fun. It would be nice to have them back.

They black out Astros games though. Hoping they don’t do the same for these
