A decent place to stay near El Paso?

Also, are there any sights to see between there and a Houston that aren’t far off of I-10?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

In El Paso, you can see the tank museum at Ft. Bliss. At night, drive up the scenic overlook and get a great view of the city and into Mexico. Eat a meal at Kiki's.
On the way? Lots of desert. Guadeloupe Mountains National Park isn't exactly on the way, but it's got some great hiking.

Balmoreah state park but you need to get in the water and snorkel to appreciate it. Lost Maples is nice but off the interstate an hour maybe. Kerrville and Comfort have nice town centers along rivers as does Boerne.

You can see what's left of the filming locations of Manos: Hands of Fate.

Downtown El Paso, the famous place is Plaza Hotel. Recent total renovation, supposed to be nice.
Two hours east in Van Horn is one of my favorite spots, the Hotel El Capitan. A few blocks off I-10. It's very classic old school place in very good shape. I love to wake up early there and walk a few blocks, it's incredibly quiet out there. Also breakfast at Tortilleria Lizy is darn good, half mile away.

I want go back to El Paso just to eat at State Line BBQ.
It was that good 20 years ago when I last went. Might have changed since then.
Cattleman’s was another popular choice back then.

State Line and Cattlemans are excellent choices. Last there in 2010. Spent 6 months there 2003-2010.
Carlos and Mickeys was a good mexican place.

Hueco Tanks is a cool place right outside of El Paso.
