re: Is being ignored better than being bullied? Mardi Gras walloped Teedy’s mandates

I haven’t been asked to show a vax card in Orleans in awhile except at maple leaf.
Masks have been non existent. The entire thing was for show by Cantrell.
The fact that it was in place the day after her maskless inauguration says everything. The only places I've seen checking lately have been bigger places/restaurant groups, but not even all of them. Funny enough, Carrollton Station was the last place to check mine.

the f-ing Kingpin near Upperline and Prytania...LOL
Which is shocking because they almost gave no fricks up until Mardi Gras.
Saw someone rudely kicked out over the vaxx card even though they were just trying to get a go drink.

Copper Monkey checked my test versus my idea. I hadn't been asked for a test/vax card in a long while.

I’d love to know if them and the Milan got some sort of heat from somebody leading up to Mardi Gras and what that actually was, if so.

did get asked for vaccines at one restaurant
Did you have vaccines to give them or did you tell them you're not a pharmacological rep?

Yeah screw them. I walked almost half a mile to the one in City Park last week so I could take a dump. They wouldn’t let me in because I didn’t have my mask and didn’t have any to give out
Dumped in the sculpture garden instead?

The mask mandate only worked if private businesses were willing to go along.
Last week, they decided, they needed the money too bad to go along.

Caught parts of the Rex Comus meeting of the courts on WYES. Not one person wearing a mask. One of the hosts spent ten minutes explaining that they decided not to require masks because the CDC has loosened mask restrictions and because the venue checked vax status. Mmmmmmk, so that still doesn't address the citywide mandate that is still ostensibly in place. They were clearly ignoring and bullying the real Queen. Just goes to show, no one gives a fuq. No one
Think they got around it by the event being a private function … that was the excuse Teddy used when show got called out for not wearing a mask

grocery stores haven't been requiring masks the past week
I walked into Rouse's without a mask, shopped around, and went to the checkout line, where the cashier asked me: "do you want a mask?" I said, "no I'm ok." I couldn't help but laugh after the fact, especially at that question--why would I want one when I'm about to leave your store when I've spent the entire time in it without one?

Plus seeing the mayor going around maskless all over the place during mardi gras. People will never accept the "rules for thee, not for me" bullshite.
I'm all for public safety, but when you institute a mask mandate after hospitalizations and deaths go dramatically down even after cases rose (meaning omicron isn't nearly the threat that previous variants were) it's just an attempt to take credit for "ending" covid.
I never really wear a mask anymore, but will when a restaurant/bar asks me. These places didn't enact any of these mandates, they're just trying not to be fined/shut down.

Same. If I'm asked to wear it, I will. I realize most places that still ask aren't doing it because they want to. They are just trying to stay in business and not get attacked by the Teedy Mafia.

At this point, with so many places WILLING to ignore it all, I’m quickly losing patience with the few that still want to carry on with this mindset.

It has always been about their liquor license or conditional licenses. They lose that then they lose it all.
How much would you be willing to risk when the courts keep siding with the powers that be.

It would not be surprising since every place in that area was asking for cards and masks. Have been in most of the stores on that corner almost daily over the last 3 weeks and was never asked until Saturday.

No they weren't. I went on Monday.

Milan Lounge was checking as well. I was surprised that dive bars of all places would enforce this.
You've got to be kidding------that hole in the wall shithole was actually checking vax cards.

Rouses on Tchop strongly enforced masks.
By Monday, they didn't care, weren't enforcing it and didn't even have signs up requiring any (numerous people were in there without one).

I suspect the jack-booted thugs at the ATC sent warning letters to all the dive bars.

it's all about who is working
i went to a magazine st bar recently, walked in with no mask, wasn't asked for vax card. i had to run back to my house and when i got back, there was a new bartender who was asking everyone for their cards, immediately
