Seems like IF Nato joined the war that's where the initial fighting would be. Then Belarus. After that Russia has no European puppet.

A S. Korean company has a patent on recycling Li Ion batteries. I had the opportunity to do something similar as in recycling carpet. You would think political leaders in BTR would want the world's largest recycling plant especially the ones who talk about sustainability and zero waste. All they know is cocktail party type talk and actually nothing more. We could get zero support from them and the patent holder wouldn't let us go ahead. The plant would have paid off in a year, zero waste, the only thing was to adjust the pH of the water used in the process due pet urine in used carpet. It would have come from California to Florida.

That's a $50,000 reward for the crew. Ukraine is paying $50k per APC and $100k per tank. Hell you get a $1,000,000 USD for a fighter jet or naval vessel.

I just read about a cell phone recycling plant in Austin. It connects lithium, cobalt, gold and nickel from phones.

I love the USA but there is going to have to come a time when we really sit down and think about what it would mean to actually go to war with the country that makes a massive percentage of all of our consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, finished products, etc. It would be very painful for China to not have access to the American consumer, but it would be catastrophic for us to be cut off from Chinese products. It's very simple. We DO NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY to produce the manufactured goods which we NEED TO SURVIVE. We need China more than they need us. That is why China will take Taiwan whenever they decide to do it. Because we can't stop them no matter what we tell ourselves.

With the exception of pharmaceuticals, all convenience items. Large swaths of that industry are convenience items too though.

The biggest issue with any recycling is collection and transportation cost. An uncle made a killing without a high school diploma in plastics recycling beginning in the late 1950's. He invented the first plastic boat paddle on a bar napkin. It all started when he was a clerk at a motor freight depot and no one worked on weekends. Plastic pellets had spilled from a truck, insurance paid the claim. The depot manager allowed him to use the place on weekends to clean it up. A water heater, a trough that the pellets traveled down (floating) with a piece of angle iron that they had to dip under and skimmed off an oils. Then a washing machine spin cycle to lose any excess water. He sold the pellets to the customer from the bill of lading.
By the late 60's he had three plants and figured out that there was a 3 year cycle for profit/loss. He sold the plants to willing buyers wanting to get in the biz and self financed. He sold just after peak of cycle with investment groups being doctors and lawyers. He would end up foreclosing as the market was just turning back upwards.

We can make all of those things here in the USA better and less expensive but for some really stupid regs if patent has expired and generic. Many are already made here but by multinationals who sell intermediates to themselves downstream to keep off patent product lines profitable.

Many were made in Puerto Rico just 10-15 years ago.
In the late 1980's the center of the world for condoms, and surgical gloves was Dothan, AL Late 80's is also when those manfacturing lines began to be moved to Asia. Latex was imported from Africa to Mobile, AL.
